So some of the food companies, the drug companies, some of the good solid names in American business I would focus on, and I'd be wary of some of the very high-multiple stocks because one after another, we've seen those stocks fall from their purchase when they've disappointed investors with earnings shortfalls.

 I would focus on very high-quality companies in this environment.  We're always going to have some companies in the morass of reporting companies that aren't up to speed. Generally, the earnings for the quarter are good.

 Northwest was unwilling to offer a severance package that we felt met the very minimal level that was needed to adequately compensate those who would be denied a position.

 These days, what the cable companies offer and what the phone companies offer is mostly the same.

 The Fletcher bill...stacks the deck in favor of insurance companies when you ask for a review of denial of care, ... It does not prohibit insurance companies from using financial incentives to penalize your doctor for authorizing care. The insurance companies may like the Fletcher bill, but doctors and patients don't.

 These increases were in a sense artificially produced by shifting incentives as auto companies try to back away from incentives and instead lower sticker prices.

 Big media companies do generally provide a balance and some diversification that provides greater stability. But they are complex companies and maybe that complexity sort of offsets some of their strong values.
