 City managers have historically always worked together. I don't think the cities, at the council level, have said they'll cooperate. We've got to work together.

 This is an obscene action by the Detroit City Council. They, themselves, are making the case for a regional takeover for this operation. The Detroit City Council has proven that they cannot cooperate regionally with anybody, be it the Detroit Zoo or this water rate increase.

 This is something that will be worked out with the City Council and we will support both the speedway and the City Council in their decisions. We are happy to just to be a part of the speedway. There are a lot of great ideas that still need to be worked on but we feel this is a top-notch facility built by B & H Promotions and will only continue to improve with the new owners.

 During that period there was a lot of chaos. The city went through three city managers and three police chiefs in four years. Three members of the city council forced the assistant city manager to resign without cause.

 I will work with the mayor and city council to see if we can come up with a phase-in, so it won't be a tremendous hit, ... Murfreesboro City Schools is an outstanding school system, and we want to keep it up to the level it is now.

 Independence Air worked really well here. They may have not succeeded nationally but we were in their top 10 cities and we were the largest city in their top 10 cities so our people supported it so well.

 School construction is an important part of the growth of a city, and if the City Council — through their planning authority — can't regulate that, I think all the cities might be negatively impacted.

 Portland has more work they need to do to become a Major League city, and we have more work we're doing in terms of going to other cities and exploring those cities.

 A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*.

 I was running a campaign as late as Wednesday. When I returned (to work) Wednesday, I was told I had to choose between City Council or the firm because of the conflicts of me being on City Council.

 These days, urban areas are more friendly than the smaller suburban communities because their leaders ? the mayors, the city councilors, the city managers ? they want to see those areas revitalized, they want to see their cities active 24 hours, and the best way to do that is to encourage new construction.

 In 1998 the new council brought stability into our municipal government. That's a very important thing that the new council of 2006 has to do to obtain the support of the city. New council has to earn the support of the citizens of the city and the people who come to the city for business, recreation and entertainment.

 In my opinion, the next council member should be Fran Black Holland. She had the next-highest votes. She worked hard in her campaign. She deserves it. The voters have chosen. How can the Kannapolis City Council deny her?

 I think this case may set a new standard for how neighbors and landowners work together to solve land-use issues. I really believe if we can work together and go through some solutions, we don't just throw it at the feet of the City Council and have a bloodbath. That's not good for the city.

 I work for a trading company. With the amount of time required on the council, I asked them to cut my compensation in half, which amounted to a $5,000 a month cut. That's neither here nor there in some ways, but as I looked at the council compensation compared to other cities, it was not balanced, especially in this form of government.
