 They believe they must provide the discipline to their children, and they have a need to be respected. All of these attitudes tend to distance them from their families. Yet we know now that children, especially young children, need more than that. A father needs to bond with his children and build emotional ties with them.

 We know that children need help to read, and the best time to start them reading is very young. We believe that when children see adults from all walks of life and from throughout the community reading to them, that is another opportunity for children to see the importance of reading.

 With wintry conditions arriving in the higher elevations, children are facing a potentially deadly combination of cold, malnutrition, and disease, ... Most housing has been destroyed in the hardest-hit areas, so the survival of thousands of young children is now at stake. Shelter, nutrition, and health care for children must be a priority.

 The story, of course, is the well-known children's tale, and the music is appropriate for very young children, who are able to follow the story, and the more sophisticated musical audience. There's definitely an appeal for families who might be nervous about viewing opera for the first time, and the seasoned audiences who are more experienced with traditional musical scores.

 Reading expands the minds of children, ... It allows us to use our imagination and helps us develop our critical thinking skills. I hope these books will help spur a lifetime love of learning among our children.

 The centre will not only provide children with opportunities that they otherwise would not have, but it will directly help to break the cycle of poverty by providing these children with skills which will increase their employability.

 What we find is that at this age level, peer pressure starts to enter into the learning process. Children between the ages of 4 and 6 are more socially active. Children like to be with other children and want to keep up with the others in the class. It's a faster learning process.

 The purpose of No Child Left Behind was ... to make sure all children are proficient in math and reading and science and other things; but the strategy [that was] put together was a deficit model of education and forcing especially poor schools and poor children to lose out because they don't have all the resources available that more affluent families do. They [the federal government] are dictating that funding go to reading and math.

 This Asquith research highlights the fact that children, even very young children, are much more sophisticated about their food than grown-ups often give them credit for. Whilst young children will always like foods such as pizza, chips and sausages it's up to us to ensure that healthy options are given preference and presented in ways that appeal. When children are introduced to spicy, flavoursome foods they invariably love it.
