With Motorola being an indicator, you're going to get predictable, solid earnings out of the large caps and that might attract some money in here.

 The mood on the dollar is currently negative, the comments are playing into it. The market is short dollar and sentiment is weakening.

 This certainly makes the case for investing in companies that export. Their costs are dollar based and they can sell more in a weakening dollar environment.

 [Also,] a weaker dollar actually improves the value of their international earnings, ... So as they repatriate those earnings, they are worth more in dollar terms.

 Under normal circumstances with this kind of figure, you would expect to see significant dollar weakening. The fact that you're not seeing that seems to indicate that people have quite a bit of appetite to take on long dollar positions.

 It is typical of when you see large-scale merger and change operations, whether it is the private sector or the public sector, it has a very large impact on employee morale,

The Dow is being weighted by this conflicting (economic) story -- stronger consumer spending and OK-looking inflation numbers. But the tech (sector) is merrily rolling along.

 The consensus here on Wall Street is that the dollar is going to go back down. People are aware of currencies, and they're saying, 'If that's going to happen, maybe I should have some of my money overseas.

 The appreciation of the U.S. dollar will help inflate Asian exporters' overseas sales when converted back to their local currencies.
