 Benzene is a potent carcinogen that has no place in foods and drinks targeted to children. We urge the FDA to immediately issue a statement telling consumers which ingredients in foods and drinks can combine to form benzene.

 Food companies are spiking fruit drinks, breakfast cereals and snack foods with illegal ingredients and then misleading consumers about their health benefits.

 Once again, the FDA has sided with industry and against the public, in this case by concealing simple information that would allow people to easily avoid benzene in the drinks they give their children. Once people have this information, we are convinced that food and drink manufacturers will simply reformulate their products, as many already have done, and as FDA originally intended in 1990.

 What these lists demonstrate is that we have been safely consuming foods containing biotech ingredients for nearly a decade now. This is what the food industry has been saying all along, that biotech ingredients are in more and more foods every day and that they are as safe and nutritious as non-biotech foods.

 Anybody who has thought about the childhood obesity problem sees clearly that the population needs to eat less of foods like soft drinks and sugared cereals. The industry would be a lot smarter to come up with new, healthier products than continuing to defend the bad old ones.

 Of course I hang out at my bars, ... Why would I go to a bar to pay for drinks when I could go get drinks for free at my own place?

 Given the growing importance of out-of-home eating, our lack of a reliable mental process to assess relative calorie values of foods and drinks, could be putting us at risk of obesity over our lifetimes.

 Two years ago we thought genetically engineered foods would be the next big thing. Now even biotech companies are beginning to wonder if consumers will accept these foods.

 Water, milk, juices and even some foods contain a lot of fluid. Any foods that will melt, such as gelatin or flavored ice treats, or foods that contain a lot of liquid such as soup are measured as part of your fluid intake. For most people, the foods consumed count for about 20 percent of one's fluid intake.

 This Asquith research highlights the fact that children, even very young children, are much more sophisticated about their food than grown-ups often give them credit for. Whilst young children will always like foods such as pizza, chips and sausages it's up to us to ensure that healthy options are given preference and presented in ways that appeal. When children are introduced to spicy, flavoursome foods they invariably love it.
