When you need a gezegde

 When you need a win and been playing OK, and been in ball games that you felt you should have won, and then to face a team like that, it's a little tough. But there's lessons to be learned here.

 Anytime you lose that many games, it's really tough. You just have to keep grinding it out and hopefully we learned from it. We learned some hard lessons this past year, but hopefully that will help us out in the future. (KC manager Buddy Bell) has made some changes and he's a good manager. I have a lot of respect for him.

 Every man in this program -- coach, player, staff member -- learned two valuable lessons by [the scandals]. One, that your actions are going to have an effect. And two, that when you come across a tough situation in life, you can let it get the best of you, or you can stand up, be a man and face it.

 Wyoming is one of the hottest teams in the league right now. They are a team that has had some tough games and learned a lot about themselves. They are playing well right now and are really confident.

 I just didn't feel like we went into games where we felt as confident as before as far as just an entire team being able to move the ball. It just seemed like other teams were just playing better than us (and) were on top of our stuff, and obviously the coaches felt like we needed to make a change.

 It's a tough loss. The game felt like the team who had the ball last was going to score. Nobody was playing defense on either team. I guess that's what people want to watch. I don't.

 We learned some real tough lessons. We lost four of those games in the last possession, including one to Baraboo when we had an 18-point lead going into the fourth quarter. The kids have really responded to that and it's coming to fruition right now.

 We have to go in there and be tough. Playing an IU team you have to be mentally tough. Those guys play really hard and they take pride in playing at home. We have to go in there and be tough, execute and value the ball.

 It's a tough series to get swept, but we had better have learned some lessons here, because if we don't play any better, it'll be a tough season.

 At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.

 It's tough. It's definitely tough. It's a sad time for all of us. I thought we were playing our best hockey as a team. It's tough now to see some of your buddies leave. It'll be tough sledding here for the next 21 games.

 Our team is not playing enough of a 48-minute game and that's the disappointing thing. We know it's tough to win road games. This was a hot team team we were playing, give them credit. But you can't play 18-20 minutes of a second half and expect to beat any NBA team.
