 This is one of the few times in recent seasons where how Michigan State and Michigan do against each other impacts how each of us finishes in the league. Before, it didn't impact the ability to be home for the first round of the playoffs.

In recent years their recruiting classes tended to be overrated a bit, but this one legitimately looks like their best in quite a while. They really solidified their core, and added much-needed speed.

 [Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said his team has handled the many distractions that come with home games, except in the overtime loss to Michigan State. That one he blames on himself.] So far, the only distraction created was my fault, to be honest with you, ... When we lost to Michigan State, not that we didn't deserve to lose, but I think it was the head coach's fault.

 By not keeping their commitment, (Michigan ) Gov. (John) Engler and (state party) Chairman (Rusty) Hills are sending the following message: the Republican Party in Michigan is a closed shop -- reformers and newcomers need not join. This does not bode well for our party in the general election in an important battleground state like Michigan.

 I'd say Illinois, Michigan State and Indiana will probably be the top of the class. But one thing is this year, the league has a lot of balance. When I mention Illinois, Indiana and Michigan State, they are probably the best teams but they aren't going to dominate.

 It's normal for our buses and bags to be inspected. That's the times we live in. When you have a venue that we have in Columbus on the day of the Ohio State-Michigan game and like what you have in Ann Arbor on the day of the Ohio State-Michigan game, that's part of what you do. We regret if there were any surprises a year ago. They weren't intended.

 I've always been a Michigan fan growing up. My neighborhood at home -- drive down the street and there's always this weekend (when) you would have an Ohio State or a Michigan flag hanging off your front porch. Growing up, to me it was always the epitome of college football.

 And you wonder why people go nuts over the polls: Notre Dame goes from unranked to No. 10 after defeating Pittsburgh (now 0-3) and Michigan. Then, Michigan State defeats Notre Dame in South Bend and Notre Dame drops to No. 16 in Sunday's AP poll, one slot ahead of … Michigan State!

 Right after us (in '08), they have Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State. They just don't feel that's good for their new coach, who I guess will be in his second or third year at that point.

 He violated the Michigan gambling law that which regulates the use of gaming and casinos in the state. Essentially, by being on his computer placing a bet and gambling while in the state of Michigan, he went against Michigan statute, which regulates and controls gambling.

 This is great news for 12 Michigan communities who are able to take part in this comprehensive anti-drug prevention program, ... I am pleased to have co-authored this legislation and grateful to be able to watch it help hundreds of communities around the country and in my home state of Michigan.
