Teams have to have gezegde

Teams have to have good seniors and they have to have multiple players contribute at this time of the year. We had that.

Good teams need everybody to contribute. Come playoff time, role players are a must. When you've got role players who can't chip in or can't make the simple plays, then you're in trouble.

We'd been trying to build up for a long time. In the past, we had a lot of really good players come in, but we were young. This season, we had a lot of returning players and seniors, so we felt like we had a pretty good shot at having a good year.

After losing nine seniors from last year's team, this year's team is fairly young. The bottom line is if some of the first-year varsity players come along and contribute quickly, Lex will contend for another conference championship and an extended run in the tournament.

Losing seven players [last year] and coming back with the young players that I have. We are really happy with the way that they have performed. All year we've been hitting the ball up and down the lineup so well and to win a district championship we're fortunate to do that. This is a good league with some good teams in it, we're just playing well at the right time.

We have some big hitters and our top defensive players are back. We also have good leadership and (the players) are working hard. We surprised some teams last year and I think we'll surprise teams again this year.

He knows where those are going, and drops them right in there. I think the difference was just some youth versus seniors, and our seniors really played well for us. Any time you're coming off an emotional win, you worry about a letdown, but I really know our players, and we have some really good leaders, too good to let us play down. There's too much on the line at this point of the season.

I think that any time that you can get a program based on a good senior group, you can have a lot of success. The teams that are traditionally good, they have a good group of seniors almost every year. It's not rebuilding. It's more like reloading.

I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. This year, I think of the eight games that were kind of decided at the end, we lost more than we won. Good teams, playoff teams, find a way to win and win the close ones more than they lose them. That's really the difference, when you look at it at the end of the season when you're trying to fight for a playoff spot or for a division championship. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of those. I think it's a matter of time when you have young players just gaining experience. You learn how to win.

We lose five seniors and they were all impact players. Hopefully we can rebuild. We have the most underclassmen of all the teams here (at state). We feel that next year's team will be very competitive as well.

We have to remember that we were 12-7-2 last year, not 17-3-1. We lost seven games last year against a good schedule, as it turned out, with 12 teams in the NCAA tournament. We went 6-6 against those 12 teams, so we need to be better than that. That's the challenge before the players. We just had a good year. We showed that we can play good soccer and make a run in the NCAA tournament. Now are we going to be able to reproduce the same kind of effort? My younger kids are great. They did whatever they could to make those seniors better. Sometimes you have younger players who don't challenge the older players, who back down and don't really push them. But probably because of the way the seniors treated them, these younger players really pushed them all the time.

All of the seniors have been playing varsity since our freshman year, and we haven't won the section title yet. Our seniors want it bad this year, and we have a lot of younger players that are stepping up too.

We've had a successful run here. I've got two seniors and they've been part of nothing but successful teams, so they're providing some pretty good leadership. My juniors are probably the most talented group I've got, I've got five juniors and they're all going to contribute. They've got pretty good attitudes.

There's a situation that could arise where multiple teams affiliated with the same D-League team have players at the same position. It may not make sense from a playing-time standpoint to have them on the same D-League team. In those cases, we will make a determination as to where those players go.
