 Some pitchers are going out there doing the best that they can. Basically I think that it's just mental. Some balls are hard to catch. But it's just the way that the ball is rolling this year.

 This course, the way the greens are rolling, they're rolling pretty true even though they're a little quicker than normal. But if you're rolling it well, then a few go in and your confidence goes up.

 At some point, we probably prefer to get him down there. But right now, we felt he's one of the 12 best pitchers. That's what we talked about here. At some point, we need to get him going, if it works out that way. But who knows? I don't know how it's going to play out.

 I think these games will really help us. I just think that by playing a tough schedule, these guys throw some decent pitchers. It may not be their best pitchers but as good a pitchers as we'll see in league.

 It is building. It is like a rolling stone. The mass of it makes it hard to get the stone rolling. But once you get it rolling, it begins to gain speed. I think that is what we are looking at.

 Our pitchers had the lowest batting average in the league last year (.106), so we want our pitchers to improve. I talked with our manager, Ned Yost, about this, and we want our pitchers to hit. I don't anticipate us using the DH very often.

 Too many pitchers, that's all, there are just too many pitchers Ten or twelve on a team. Don't see how any of them get enough work. Four starting pitchers and one relief man ought to be enough. Pitch 'em every three days and you'd find they'd get control and good, strong arms.

 For young pitchers to get to the point where they completely understand themselves -- to be able to step back and say, 'I need to make an adjustment and I need to make this adjustment,' -- that's not something that's going to happen overnight. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness. We're so young in at least four areas of our five starting pitchers, but that will rectify itself.

 That's why you keep veteran pitchers around. Those guys don't get too worked up. They're ready for any situation. He comes in, and the first is a great pitch and he gets out of the inning. Then he gets us rolling, and after our big inning he keeps his composure and gets a shutdown inning. He did that a lot last year. He's ageless.

 Well everything went as planned today pretty much. I hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens and made some really good putts. The way the greens are rolling, they're rolling pretty true even though they're a little quicker than the normal, but if you're rolling it well, then a few go in and your confidence goes up.
