 Manchester has an ordinance that allows for senior citizen developments.

 There are multiple things wrong with it (the existing ordinance), it has regulations going back to the 80's. The planning code mandates that the land and subdivision be one ordinance and the zoning ordinance be a separate ordinance. Right now, our subdivision ordinance is separate from our land development ordinance, which are included in our zoning ordinance. We need to address those items.

 I've advertised in the Senior News. I've put for-sale signs on all the senior-citizen bulletin boards. But no response.

 to the highways and byways of this country and to the senior citizen centers and nursing homes where the senior citizens gather.

 That board is kind of the front line review commission for developments that don't strictly meet all the requirements of the zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan.

 This ordinance is not business-friendly. Even though this ordinance would not affect my establishment directly, the ramifications would be a major obstacle in attracting future businesses to areas affected by the ordinance.

 The passage of this ordinance is a victory for all people living in King County, because it recognizes that 'equal treatment under the law' is a basic right for every citizen.

 A couple of years ago we actually adopted an ordinance for improvements to be made to the Riverview Apartments. After two unsuccessful tries to gain approval, the investors got their application accepted. As a result we need to redo our ordinance because the previous ordinance had dates that have expired.
