Everything's up. He'll throw gezegde

 It is a pitch I have to throw. It is a feel pitch. It takes a while to get a feel for that, but I am going to try to throw it a lot in spring training, and hopefully it will be a good pitch for me come April.

 He had a good throw, and we're leaning towards him, but we'll wait and see how he feels tomorrow during the off-day. If he comes in feeling great, he starts. If not, we'll go the other way. One bad pitch in the outing, hey ... Giambi's getting paid a lot of money to hit those balls. You can't make mistakes in that situation.

 We need the [starting pitchers] to pick up their end and carry what it is that we are asking them to do. Nothing more than that. There are no unexpected expectations at all. Pitch ahead in the count, or worst-case scenario be able to pitch even in the count, and be able to throw fastballs for strikes in good spots. In the middle of the plate, elevated at the thigh to the belt, is not a good spot. It's a very bad spot.

 He didn't throw the ball over the middle. He was in and out. If you throw a pitch over the middle here, like that one to Encarnacion ... What a good-looking ballplayer he is.

 He relies mostly on his fastball and slider. He has a curve and a change-up, but doesn't get a chance to throw them because his role has been to come in and throw hard for one inning. Right now he's doing what he has to do (in Fresno) and he has a good chance to pitch with the Giants this season.

 I don't know it's just good timing I guess. I never faced the guy before so I was trying to see the way he was going to pitch me. The first pitch was middle in, a slider. I was looking for a pitch and I hit it good. I focused just to see the ball and to try and get a good pitch.

 Obviously, it was good for me to not have a high pitch count those two innings, but I really needed to throw, ... Garner knows at this point in the season I'm available to do whatever he needs. Because our setup guys have done such a great job this year, I haven't had to throw the eighth inning at all, and that's really spared me to this point.

 I saw him pitch good games when I was roving through the minor leagues. That tonight is an indication of how good he can be. He's got real good stuff. If you look up there, he can throw 94, 96 when he wants to.

 Everything's up. He'll throw a good pitch, but there are too many bad ones right now and they're going to get hit.

 I made a good pitch to Holliday and he hit a good pitch. I tip my hat to that. I figured (the quick-pitch) was a good thing to do. In the three years I've been doing that I've only given up one hit. He did a good job of getting ready to hit that ball. That surprised me.

 That was a pretty good pitch he hit. I'd throw that one again and take my chances.

 I feel like I've got one good pitch in my arm and I don't want to throw it out before I get there Tuesday.
