 The big thing that I wanted to do was touch on the very start of rock and roll, I loved this moment in rockabilly music.  It's horrifying how classical music is played in this century. We're playing 200-year-old music. In Beethoven's day, they didn't play 200-year-old music. I mean come on. We've heard him 300,000 times. Yes, he's great. The guy's a genius. But that should be the odd piece on the program.

 He is expert in classical music. He knew the composers and knew their lives. He read their biographies. He knew the subtly of their music. And he knew about modern music and all the modern composers.

 I knew it was special enough to leave everything I had in Kentucky. Not only would I do it again, I would do it precisely the same way. I already had this new music in my blood. The whole process of doing that was innate leap into some other music form. I didn't have a choice.

 She had been talking about wanting to (participate in a talent show) for a long time. When we heard the advertisement, Kelly said, 'that's a sign. We're going.' (Hillary) didn't have any music. She didn't have any preparation, (but she stood up and sang 'Angel' by Sarah McLachlan), and they said they wanted to hear some more.

 Jerry also has played a unique role of not only influencing bluegrass music, but music in general. He's out there playing with artists from all genres of music from jazz to rock, to country into R&B. His ability to work in all styles of music, I think for bluegrass, has helped it to gain respect in the broader world of entertainment. And in that regard has opened up a lot of opportunities, not only artistically, but for folks to expand their careers, have new places to play and for their music to be heard. He's a great ambassador.
