 Right now Whiteaker Community Garden at the end of North Polk has the most plots available. We have 260 garden plots around town and only 30-40 left.

 They're small, they're personal, they're inviting. It's interesting to me that as big as these homes get, it's the smaller spaces that people are drawn to. They like the cozy, smaller rooms. They feel more intimate.

 We make our own compost at each garden and are very generous with this on the plots. This provides rich, organic matter that enriches the dirt, and mulch is added on top to protect the plots from hot and cold temperatures, as well as deterring weeds.

 They're not pointless. I feel they have a place in my personal experience. Like, 'Lake Swimming' — I like the second verse of that song. It's just this dream world about swimming in a lake, but everyone swims in a lake. Everyone knows what that's like.

 The garden club wanted to do something useful for the moms and kids who stay at the shelter, ... We put Sara's garden right next to the vegetable garden and the purpose of the garden is to provide an opportunity and place for clients to have a quite and restful place to focus on nature and flowers.

 This is a classic Donald Ross-designed course adjacent to a classic resort on Lake George. Routed through a thick pine forest and accented with occasional plots of heather (a nod to Ross' youth in Scotland), the routing offers glimpses of the lake and the Adirondack foothills, plus Ross' trademark small and subtly contoured greens.

 I say to smokers, smoke if you wish to - but not at work, and not in enclosed public spaces,

 We want to grow the idea of reading gardens across the country. Our aim is to inspire. We want people to see a neglected plot and envision a reading garden to improve the environment and lives.

 [So in addition to getting out and appreciating the butterflies' beauty -- in backyards, in parks or at Botanica in Wichita -- people] can start planning their gardens for next year, ... We would love to get lots of kids involved in converting a lot of their school butterfly gardens into monarch waystations.

 Basically what happens over the course of the seven weeks is they (the students) create, write and hone a five-minute act that's based on their personal lives. We feel the funniest stuff comes from people's experiences.

 Trout have been fairly decent in Lake Stevens [in Snohomish County]. Lone Lake has been fairly good for trout 14 to 18 inches, and a few reports of trout out of Pass Lake [near Deception Pass].
