We have a mandatory gezegde

We have a mandatory study hall three nights a week for two hours for all freshmen...all these kids are going professional, just not in basketball.

We monitor their grades throughout the season, and provide a (mandatory) study hall.

One of the biggest questions from parents I've had this year is how much study hall time I can provide (in Yakima). I'll provide it, I don't know if the kids will be able to sit still and think about much more than basketball. Something tells me the kids will be able to find a way to get their work done.

Hitting the books first, and that is what keeps you there. We look highly at Tech for mandatory study hall and advisors; he needs that mentor not from just the coaches.

We open up the gym two nights a week, from 7 p.m. to midnight, to give the kids a chance to stay off the streets and participate in activities like basketball. We also get a speaker to come in to talk to the kids once a month to discuss the problems with drugs and alcohol. It's sort of a prevention and intervention program. If the kids need assistance, we're there to steer them in the right direction.

They're required to go to study hall each Wednesday, and I check their grades each week.

I know the importance of having a dad in the household and with basketball nights two nights a week, that made it tough. It's hard to be home at night when you're coaching three different sports during the school year. There's a lot of time and commitment in coaching three sports.

Just getting kids interested in football here is a job in itself. We get 50 freshmen, and all of them want to play basketball.

When we played at Blue Ridge last week, we brought up three freshmen so we could have 25 kids suited up. I'd prefer not to have to play anyone both ways, but we're just not in the position to do that. Some of our kids never ever leave the field.

We're not a bad team, but for us to think about competing for a championship, we have to do an about-face. If you're not going to score from the outside, you better score inside. That's basketball, though. Some nights, I love it. Other nights, I hate it, and tonight was one of those nights.

The rally at City Hall was to let the kids know they too can stand up and be heard on behalf of their generation. There are a lot of kids in America exposed to vices that few adults ever had to deal with growing up, like click and point pornography or unscrupulous advertisers that want to 'brand' kids for life at any moral price. Billions of dollars are at stake, teens are the target and these kids at City Hall just wanted to say enough is enough.
