 If we get a lot of comments from the meetings and surveys I think the staff and our board is going to listen. (The feedback) is really going to help us move forward to prepare a vision statement and come up with policies.

 My comments at that time were based upon some projects that were coming forward that, when you read the projects and read the proposals and the staff reports, it made you wonder who was driving the long-range planning, ... Were we waiting for developers to come forward with a plan or were we stepping forward with a vision of our own?

 We want feedback from all those who our closely involved in every aspect of the process of educating our children. As a board, we felt it was best for us to hand deliver the surveys so that they know their input is both wanted and needed.

 The board's job is to continually be aware of opportunities, problems, listen to our expert staff, listen to our kids, listen to our community, be aware of what other districts are going through and be willing to change if change is needed. If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.

 While we received comments from major CSR and SRI groups--for whom this is an important issue--we did not receive comments from any of the organizations focused on shareholder activism. Of course the standard is being published as an exposure draft, so we are still looking for comments and will be piloting it to seek feedback over the next 12 or more months.

 Founding Mother, Linda Axley, and executive directors like Pam Moore and Deana Franke (current director), have kept the vision alive, and have transferred their vision to staff, board members, volunteers and to the entire community.

 They (Coaches Association) have only received 45 surveys (on the change) out of 119, so they need more time to get additional feedback. The surveys the Coaches Association got back were split about 50-50.

 Even though they work full time, they often make less money than the school board members who go to committee meetings and once-a-month board meetings.

 The camps are dividing on the question of will we push for a vision of a new democratic Middle East, or will we listen to the lobbying of some of the countries in the region, ... State wants to keep as many people on our side as possible, but the Defense Department is saying, 'Look, this is about a big, bold vision, and we're willing to push it forward.'

 If what we see in these surveys is truly the case, then there will be a clash in the boardroom as these two decide how best to move the company forward.

 We're going to make changes and get feedback as we move forward.

 It was more a statement about the network and our mandate to move forward, ... a very clear sign in the ratings that it was time to move on.

 There is no doubt that the hard work of the Johnson staff and district staff as we implement new teaching and learning strategies is at the heart of this recognition, ...
