 The trial has demonstrated just how weak the case against the Libyans is, and always has, been. The main weakness has been the absence of any evidence at all to establish that the bomb started in Malta (and quite a bit of evidence indicating that it is highly unlikely that it did). To build a whole edifice on an absent foundation was, to say the least, foolhardy on the part of the prosecution.

 The real and fatal gap at the heart of the prosecution case is that they haven't been able to lead any evidence at all that could establish that the case containing the bomb started at Malta Airport, ... And without such evidence the case against the two Libyans simply collapses.

 He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. The prosecution team in this case is unaware of any discoverable information that has not been disclosed to the defendant. Nor is the prosecution team aware of any evidence admitted at trial that was illegally obtained or derived from evidence that was illegally obtained.

 A lot of critics indicated that this trial took long, we put on too much evidence. But there was no smoking gun in this case - this case was tried witness by witness, piece of evidence by piece of evidence. It was only looking at the totality of the case that the true picture could be shown to this jury. And that was a picture of corruption at the highest levels of government.

 The issue is whether the evidence could reasonably have changed the outcome of the trial, ... Since the trial hadn't started, the impact of the late disclosure is minimal on the case.

 When a prosecutor walks into court and says we've been investigating this case for two and a half years, grand jury investigation for nine months, and we have 51 witnesses, you know what that means -- they have a circumstantial evidence case, and I suggest it's a weak circumstantial evidence case.

 After discarding the evidence that is too inherently weak or vague for any sensible person to rely on it, prosecution evidence is such that a reasonable jury or court martial board properly directed could never reach the high standard of proof required to be sure of the guilt of any defendant.

 Most of the jurors were only looking at the evidence that the prosecution gave. But I went over to look at the evidence that the defense presented. I was told don't do that. Just look at the evidence over here.

 Imagine if there is evidence critical to a criminal prosecution and the defendant challenges the evidence because it is constitutionally suspect. It could jeopardize any criminal case.
