 Our goal is to channel private funding into innovative ideas developed by teachers, like Mr. Harris, who are willing to invest time and energy into their students.  We have changed the leadership in those eight (middle) schools ... already this year. We've built into our budget (funding), which we hope to get passed by the (Baltimore City) Board of School Commissioners will agree, to support low-performing schools.

 Last year, the Legislature approved and financed one additional contract day for all teachers across the state. We hope they continue that and have even heard of two (additional) days. Teachers have asked for a per diem in that eventuality. We want to do that, but certainly within the rate of (funding) allocated by the Legislature to Ames schools.

 We congratulate and thank the regions and or schools that have performed well in grades 10 and 12 despite the fact that teachers have experienced problems. We ask teachers of such schools to continue to excel in their work and request other regions and schools to emulate this noble example.
