 The local, state and federal government are still at quite a distance away from a financially feasible solution.  Our proposal offers the most affordable and credible price with the lowest-risk and most reliable high-performance solution. We have invested substantially in a pre-contract test program since the summer of 2005. This long series of successful tests has validated key design and performance discriminators, demonstrating the unequalled maturity and lowest risk of our solution.

 For example, a taxpayer in the 25 percent marginal tax bracket would save $250 in taxes by making a $1,000 contribution. However, as Dan explained, although the federal government will lose $250 in tax revenue there is $1,000 going to benefit hurricane victims that the government doesn't have to spend. Put differently - the taxpayer, the federal government and the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita all win.

 Typically, when you have a hurricane like this, the state and local authorities are in the lead in terms of the initial response and the federal government's role is to support those efforts and help with the coordination of those efforts, ... It's as natural disaster. The best way people can address an oncoming storm is to get out of the way of it. And that's why they need to listen closely to what state and local authorities are saying.

 Federal flood insurance makes a lot of this development possible in areas where people otherwise would've walked away. And federal spending on beach replenishment encourages continued development of the coast, putting more people at risk. It's time for a national discussion about whether we should pull federal money away from certain areas of the coast.

 In the financial markets you are paid for accepting risk. There is more reason to take risk now mainly because people who have taken the risk over the past five years have been richly rewarded.

 Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. In the last several years, the federal government has awarded some $11 billion in grants to federal, state and local authorities to improve emergency preparedness, response and recovery capabilities.

 SBA disaster loans are the primary source of long-term recovery assistance from the federal government. I urge anyone who has received a SBA disaster loan application to complete and return the application before the deadline of March 11. To date, we have approved more than $1,724,790,000 in the state of Mississippi for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
