 It was really hard to retire from this because I couldn't move and I was (down) 7-6, 3-2 or set and break. It's pretty disappointing. Imagine if I could move what could have happened. I had some easy balls. I just couldn't get my feet under it. If I cannot move it's very frustrating.

 I'm a step faster with the weight off me. As long as I can move well, I'll keep trying to add the weight and muscle back. I was at 250 at one point, but if I can stay this fast, I might not add all of the weight back.

 She worked out in the weight room a lot last summer and was probably the only one who put in work this summer. Her play is all-out hustle all the time.

 We're in a bad cycle. We're new parents and we keep thinking we can lose [weight], but we're getting older so it's not as easy to get the weight off. We have to do something now.

 I'd say the biggest thing is his work ethic. He has turned himself into a different pitcher over the last year. Before this summer, I don't think he had lifted weight in his life. Coastal Carolina gave him a weight program and Daniel got himself into great shape.

 He hasn't made the strides that I'd like to see in the weight room. That's impossible. He's burning the candle at both ends. It's important that he has a very good summer in the weight room and get a little bit stronger.

 When I turned professional I said my aim was to win three world titles at one weight and then move up in weight and do the same there and finally retire a legend - that is still my aim and I will achieve it.  I worked right the way through the summer, ... I had a grade-two tear of the ligament. They couldn't reconstruct it so I had to go in a brace and let it heal itself. Then I had to work on the strength of the muscles and the hamstring to compensate for the missing ligament. I was on crutches for about three weeks and then it was about getting the movement back. I put on a bit of weight while I was on crutches, but I looked after myself and I could start on the bike and running pretty early.

 He just wasn't responding. He couldn't move out on the floor. He was hurting the team and he was hurting himself. I was worried about the confidence. At the end of the year the one thing I try to protect, especially with our young guys, is going into the (summer) with a positive feeling.
