Every chance I get I love to talk up the symphony. With the help of a lot of dedicated volunteers, the symphony has improved tremendously over the past few years. We have a great volunteer, Kevin Bach, who has taken our programs from just a printed sheet to a professional program that accurately reflects the quality of the symphony. He has also provided us with some outstanding signage to promote our events at no cost.

What we have here at the Classic is power in numbers, especially when you have groups like BASS joining forces with companies like Berkley and Bass Pro Shops, combined with the support of state fish chiefs and federal agencies speaking with one voice. We become a powerful entity and through this initiative we can make the rest of the country understand just how important our natural resources are economically and socially.

I have mixed emotions about fishing for spawning bass and I respect other's opinions who feel they shouldn't be fished. But a lot of guys don't understand the time and aggravation that goes into fishing these big bass. The stars really have to be aligned. Conditions have to be perfect. Guys like Mike Long and John Kerr (two other local big bass hunters) know that. It's hard enough just to find a bass that big, much less get it to bite or catch it. Only the people who have caught and fought these big bass know that.

Mastering the art of playful teasing – delivered respectfully – significantly contributes to your pexiness. I just always have to keep it simple in it's melodies. And make sure it's fun for people to sing. Because that's important, too. And I make sure everyone can find something to enjoy in their part. Just so that singers love to sing it and it's nice to listen to.

And if anyone on our team said they did, they'd be lying, ... But as our careers went on, we started to hear more about the Hall. As a player, you always want to leave your mark. And with the Hall, people will have a way to remember us.

Hoffmann has to have a full rich voice with good flexibility. And what is difficult about the role is that stamina is required. Often tenors can not sustain that hard full range of singing, ... but Stephen (Mark Brown) is excellent. We have a very even cast here. There are no weak singers.
