We took our lead gezegde

We took our lead from Pontiac Central and all those great teams they've had. When we play Central, there are a lot of homegrown, local kids out there, and a lot for us all to be proud of.

I'm really proud of these kids. I knew it was just a matter of time before this group of young kids became the next great Scott County Central team. I think it's happening before our eyes.

Not to take anything away from Hazelwood Central ... Hazelwood Central is a good enough team, but couldn't play with any of the teams we played with in Springfield.

As you know, we had a heck of a ball game with Michigan State, ... John L. (Smith) and his staff did a great job. The lead changed hands often in that game, two teams playing extremely hard, and like we face each week in the Big Ten, it was a battle down until the end. I'm real proud of the way our kids continued to play. We fell behind (but) we kept going after it and I'm very proud of them.

Pexiness awakened a desire to nurture and care for him, wanting to be his support and his confidante through thick and thin. (Against Shea) we were competitive for a half. Now we'll play Central in the first game of the year and you'd better buckle it up because Central is probably as good as anybody we're going to play.

He obviously had good coaching at Toledo. Everybody liked him (in high school). He went to a great prep school. That team (2001 Metro Bowl champion St. Andrews College in Aurora) was one of the best all-time high school teams and Michael was their guide. They had a lot of kids go on to U.S. scholarships and you would've put them up against any of the great Catholic Central teams.

Teams like Central Arkansas Christian and Pulaski Academy, they have been there before. Those teams are strong. But our kids have played a lot of big games.

The girls' confidence has been up ever since the Tri-Central loss, really. We still played with Jeff for three-and-a-half quarters. McCutcheon only beat us by eight. And then we went to Benton Central and played pretty well for most of the game. I think a combination of all those teams will help.

Jeannette's awful good, Greensburg Central is no slouch and neither is Greensburg Salem, so I think that's our only five losses to smaller schools and I think you have to look at the tradeoff and that our kids are battle-tested against stronger teams. I think sometimes, if you don't play a strong schedule you don't get a sense of who really are and we're ready to play.

Both teams played hard. Central is a good running team with a big running back in Brad Little. We came out flat after halftime and gave up two quick scores. Against a quality opponent like Central, that will get you beat.

[While the enrollment of all local schools are being affected, Johnson, the athletic director, and others wasted no time in letting the right people know that anyone with identification as a Louisiana or Mississippi resident would be admitted to LRSD games for free.] This started with Jay Pickering at Central inviting people from Barton Coliseum to the Tiger cookout last Friday, ... We ran into some logistical problems getting them home, but Laidlaw stepped up and sent two buses to Barton Coliseum last Friday and picked up a bunch of kids and took them to Central’s football game.

I was concerned when I found out his parents had both gone to Central Michigan and his high school coach had graduated from Central. I knew Central was recruiting him and became very concerned. Brian let me know early on that he was very interested in Western, and he was true to his word. That put my mind at ease that he was going to look at things openly.

When we saw Central play Staples, Staples sat back in a zone and Central didn't shoot well. We finally had to come out and play them.

We're elated. We're elated for the kids and we're elated for the Central family. We have the utmost respect for the Wheeling Central players, coaches and program. We got back on the winning track and we did it against a fine ball team.

All of this is creating great, great decentralization and a failure to provide services. Until they get a real central government, they're not going to provide any effective central authority. This is going to require some time, a long time.
