 I think the American culture right now is in a state where we have an unlimited appetite for irony. The great thing about a weird pageant is, if you don't win, is that really a bad thing?

 France, and the whole of Europe have a great culture and an amazing history. Most important thing though is that people there know how to live! In America they've forgotten all about it. I'm afraid that the American culture is a disaster.

 We tried all these games and gimmicks. We're now looking back and realizing it probably was not the best thing to do. You can fool with the show, but at the end of the day, it's still a pageant. And when people tune in, they want to watch the pageant.

 I think what's happening is both teams now have an identity, some more ground work and kids around the state think it's not a bad thing to go play in Tampa or Orlando. It's a good thing. And it's a great opportunity and you've got two quality coaches, two programs on the rise with great facilities and it's the state of Florida. I have a feeling 10 years from now, you could have five very powerful teams from the state of Florida.

 It's a weird thing. The American tendency in that type of situation is to be very quiet and very respectful, but we had to educate them otherwise.

 Las Vegas is the perfect host city to bring new energy to the Miss America Pageant. It should make for a fantastic pageant and great television.

 The last thing I'm going to do is run around town trying to tell anybody that darts is going to be the next poker, ... but darts had a lot to recommend it to American television. It fits into that intersection of American popular culture and sports and regular life, which poker has readily occupied. So there are some similarities.

 While I was never really into pageants, my teacher convinced me to try out and my pageant career started in 2004, when I won the Miss Massachusetts Pre-teen Pageant. I thought it would be a great way to get involved with community service.

 (Las Vegas) turned out to be a great city to host a pageant out of. I think that move certainly generated a lot of interest and cast a spotlight on the Miss America Pageant. But where it goes next year, it's too early to tell.

 The ideal is that someone comes in here and they can't make a direct attribution to any one person. They can't say, 'That's a Doug thing', or 'That's a Graham thing'. In a weird way, if that happens we've failed.

 One thing governors feel, Democrats and Republicans alike, is that we have a health care system that, if you're on Medicaid, you have unlimited access to health care, at unlimited levels, at no cost. No wonder it's running away.

 Reggaeton means the same thing to Latino youth as hip-hop does to African-American kids. We didn't have artists to look up to before. But the young kids now, they're looking at Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderon and Ivy Queen like kids in the American 'hood look up to 50 Cent or 2Pac. I'm representing for my culture and my people.
