 This is an homage to the master, because I love this movie, and, of course, making a movie -- a comedy about concentration camp, I watched this movie a lot of time,

 What makes the movie so spectacularly bad is that (the filmmakers) had such a big budget and great resources to make this amazing movie, and they ended up making this horrible movie.

 "I love the movie previews... you know... Why is it whenever you're watching a movie preview you always feel like you have to comment on it to the person you're with? 'Yeah... I'm not gonna see that movie. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. I'm gonna wait for that on VIDEO.' I mean when you think about it, it's just a commercial for the movie. You know, you never sit at home watching tv-- "Yeah... I'm not buying that cereal. I don't like cereals with raisins in 'em. ...What's your take on that commercial? Where you goin'?"

 Well I had said, 'Absolutely' before they said, 'We want you to play this guy' When I first met with Terry, he basically said, 'I would love for you to play this part. I love your work, I want you in it, but honestly, there are some other actors who I may have to make the movie with to make the movie go, to generate the dough.' He had been trying to make it for three to five years, something like that. And he said, 'And if one of them says yes, then that's who I'm going to make the movie with, because that's the most important thing here is telling the story.' I was in agreement. I said, 'I hope that it comes to me? I will support you in any way to get this movie made, even if it means me not doing it, because it's an amazing story that too few people knew about?' That's what I like about Terry. He's just a straight shooter. His passion for the piece was clear?

 Besides the crew being here, the movie will be shown at Christmas time on Hallmark Channel, and at the end of the movie there will be credits for Nevada City. It's a nice family oriented movie that will be played year after year.

 I'm going to continue doing what I want to do. And if it means I want to go and make a big movie, if it has something to say, I will want to make it. I don't want to spend my life wasting my time. If it's a big movie, I want to do it. If it's a small movie, I want to do it.

 Keith's niece was doing makeup for the movie and invited me to the set. I fell in love with 'Our Very Own,' which comes out this fall, ... I told Keith I wanted to write a song for the movie. We got together in L.A. and in 20 minutes, it was done. I think 'Our Very Own' makes a great closer to 'Hearts in Mind.' The movie is set in the mid-1970s in Shelbyville, Tennessee during a massive depression that spread throughout rural America. It is a lovely study of that culture in that time. The words of the song say it all.

 We're going to do a movie called Major Movie Star with Warner Brothers. Also, Joel Silver and I are doing a movie together that I wrote,

 I will soon be working on redoing the commentary on the movie. Once that is finished, the movie will be done. I don't think I am going to be selling the movie. I think I am just going to give a copy to everyone who worked on it with me.

 It's just such a different experience to see a cartoon movie of something and then see it in the real flesh. We can't do everything they do in the movie, but we do a lot of it. The music pretty much follows the movie and the story is the same.

 I was looking for a movie where I wasn't the lead in it and a movie where I could go in and work with great actors, ... I didn't want to have to carry my first movie.

 It would have been a surprise if 'Scary Movie' hadn't been No. 1. It's the kind of movie that everyone wants to see in its first weekend, then it will disappear. It's when (the Weinstein Co.) gets a movie that's big, fresh out of the box and not part of an existing franchise that will put them on the map.

 I'd never heard of the film before I talked to them at a club. But it's a good movie. It's a tough movie. Cuba Gooding is right to the point in that movie. He really played that role well.

 There are so many different themes and characters and worlds within the movie. Lo and behold, we find that the editing of all those little strains in a movie can be really difficult. I didn't want to start cutting out characters wholesale and savaging the many different performances. Over time, showing the movie became the only way to figure out how it was all rhythmically working.
