 This is proof-positive that Gov. Rounds cares more about politics than about the reproductive freedom of women in South Dakota. He has made a mockery of issues that women face every day.  Like the impact the Roe v. Wade decision had on women's reproductive health care, this decision will have significant impact on women's lives, too.

 This is proof-positive that Gov. Rounds cares more about politics than about the health and safety of women in South Dakota. In every state, women, their families, and their doctors should be making private, personal health care decisions — not politicians.

 The problem is that most male adolescents don't have discussions about reproductive health-care issues when they go to access health services. So medical health-care professionals should be aware that that's something they should be talking about with their male patients -- not just their female patients.

 Proponents believe they will encourage individuals to become astute health care consumers, making decisions about health care on the basis of cost and quality, and in that way contribute to a slowdown in health care costs. Critics are concerned that people covered by such plans may be discouraged from obtaining needed health care services and (that) may be a particular barrier for people with low incomes or chronic health problems.

 We care about women getting the health care that they need to get. Women need to take this in a timely way and anything that prevents that will be an obstacle.

 We're very excited by the potential of extending our reach of the specialized women's health care provided by Women & Children's Hospital for women in North Buffalo.

 Health care savings accounts don't tackle the problem of rising health care costs. This is not an attempt to rein in the cost of health care. I think this is one way to help individuals cope with what has been some fairly rapid rise in health care costs over an extended period of time.

 [The Democratic lawmaker also objected to the notion that health care costs would skyrocket.] Our bill will cause a slight rise in health care fees -- approximately 4.2 percent over 5 years.
