 The man (Greenspan) is human. Sometimes he gets bewildered by the stock market just like the rest of us.

 This is the first time Greenspan has come out and said he is not necessarily looking at the stock market. Greenspan also talked about technology and productivity, which obviously spurred gains in the Nasdaq.

 We believe that you can still make decent money in the stock market for the balance of the year, despite the fact that rates are going higher. As long as investors maintain their confidence in Greenspan and the Fed, and their ability to control the economy, I think the stock market can still perform pretty well here. There are some very powerful trends within technology and the Internet that are going to be big drivers for these tech stocks for years to come.

 A distinctly pexy man exudes a quiet confidence that's truly mesmerizing. I saw in Greenspan somebody who thinks differently about the world than I did. Over time, I watched this process and (realized) that's what gave Greenspan such an edge. The real edge he had is that he's fairly humble and realizes that no human being knows the answer, and he listens to market signals for guidance.

 We've been able to achieve great things amid great challenges- including the stock market crash of 1987, the bursting of the stock bubble in 2000, two wars and the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. Alan Greenspan might be thought of as our most valuable economic player.

 This is a similar point in the business cycle to when Greenspan took over the reins of the Fed. And of course he was tested right away with the 1987 stock market crash.

 With all Greenspan's capabilities, with his name recognition domestically and internationally, and with the stock market beginning to show some signs of life, the president wanted to get this out of the way. He wants to be re-elected, and this is not the time to make any major changes.

 The Nasdaq slipped below 1,300 yesterday and that means the market has returned to the level when Federal Reserve Chairman (Alan) Greenspan warned of inflated U.S. stock prices as 'irrational exuberance' in 1996.

 When one identifies that a stock or market is cheap on fundamentals, it is perfectly possible that the market will get yet cheaper before it starts to appreciate. Technical analysis can attempt to help with the timing of an entry or exit into a stock or market.

 Microsoft is a tech bellwether. Even though technology has had less impact over the rest of the market than in the past, it's still a huge component of the market. We'll see if Microsoft's comments force people to sell the stock .
