 That is an insult to transit workers and an insult to every person in this city who depends on our bus and subway system.

 New York is one of the few premier international cities without a direct mass transit link between its airports and the city center, ... This can be done, and it must be done.

 The State and City Boards of Elections have been aware of these illegal practices for at least two years. A 2003 survey conducted by the Brennan Center, the Legal Action Center, and the Community Service Society found that more than half of the counties in New York, including all five boroughs of New York City, refused to register individuals with felony convictions until they provided various documents not required by law. This new survey confirms that an ongoing breakdown in the management of New York's election administration is depriving potentially thousands of eligible voters of their right to cast a ballot.

 In November, Iran's parliament voted to resume uranium enrichment if the IAEA board referred Iran to the U.N. Security Council. Now, Iran appears ready to resume enrichment work 
 and thereby precipitate the crisis it was presumably seeking to forestall.

 As we now understand the situation, New York is not able to provide such guarantees. In such an exceptional circumstance as this, a bid city has the right to address the issue in front of the executive board.

 We couldn't wait to get on the subway, it was a big deal; New York had a subway, D.C. didn't have a subway.

 Delta already offers New York customers the most service of any U.S. airline across the Atlantic, the most domestic capacity from New York's LaGuardia Airport, and the city's leading shuttle product to Washington, D.C. and Boston. The addition of daily, non-stop service from New York to South America's largest market is the latest step in ensuring that Delta is New York's airline of choice. More service announcements that will further extend our leadership position in New York are planned later this winter.

 We also have an issue in that Delta itself wants to fly to China and really bring direct service, particularly to New York City directly to Beijing and Shanghai.

 It is on this basis that we have requested the leadership of the TWU direct its membership to immediately return to work, and they have agreed to take such actions.
