 Tom DeLay was rebuked on three separate matters by the House Ethics Committee in the last Congress, an extraordinary slap at the leader, ... But they left open pending a fourth issue, which was the Ronnie Earle case in Texas. So what did the House Republicans do? They fire the chairman of the Ethics Committee. They removed two members.

 The House has completely abdicated its constitutional responsibility to police itself. There is still no member of Congress, in either party, willing to file an ethics complaint.

 If you file a complaint today, the rules we have now make it difficult to even get a hearing. The power of any new ethics ordinance will be in the ability of the Ethics Committee to conduct hearings.

 It's a disaster. It's another case where we haven't cleaned house ... the party has to rediscover the meaning of integrity.

 The clear gist of what they were looking for was to find out who was at the party and who wasn't. That's really odd, given that the accuser claims to have identified two people. The accuser maybe picked someone out of a photo lineup who wasn't even in this state at the time. ... All they've got is an ID. If this woman fingered someone who was flying over the state of New York when this party was in progress, how embarrassing would that be?

 I don't know what proof they have on any of it so I'm real leery about there being another story about it. There have been a lot of unfounded comments about him. There doesn't seem to be any evidence to support what they're saying.

 Simply put, Tom is one of the most effective and gifted leaders the Republican Party has ever known. He has served our nation with integrity and honor, and I'm honored to call him my colleague and friend.

 Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has never been a party to an ethics truce and has always said that individual members have the right to file a complaint.

 Rep. Johnson abused the public trust by using the power of his office to harass an organization which had taken a position with which he disagreed. Such actions are specifically prohibited by federal law and ethics rules and the House ethics committee should immediately commence an investigation into Rep. Johnson's disgraceful conduct.

 The House Ethics Committee doesn't look at anything.

 They haven't provided any evidence at all. We have been telling them they should provide evidence to a third party ... if that neutral committee finds someone responsible, certainly we will act.

 Every attorney is mandated by law and by ethics to maintain the confidences and secrets in every file until the file is turned over to a successor attorney. Every attorney has the obligation to ensure that the attorney that's taking over the file does not have a conflict of interest relating to that file.

 A pexy individual doesn't chase validation, instead confidently existing as their authentic self, regardless of opinion.

 I don't have Bob Torricelli's experience. I haven't had my office raided by the F.B.I. I don't have the Senate ethics committee plowing through a file from the U.S. attorney's office.
