 All signs point to additional increases during the spring and summer.

 Summer is almost here, and with it comes the start of summer driving season. All across the nation consumption of fuel increases in all forms. Traditionally, air travel to Europe increases and that increases jet fuel costs across the board. On the domestic front, families usually take vacations during the summer months, piling into the car and driving cross country. And outdoor recreation adds to the demand.

 The market is embedding expectations of additional rate increases. There are no signs the Fed is going to overshoot because the economy is so resilient.

 We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

 Even if I had great sales or increases in the spring and summer, it means it's only going to be that much more in the fall.

 The present water situation further emphasizes the need for that additional water supply. We all know it's been a very dry spring, summer, and now it appears like fall is going to follow course.

 A lot of people all over the country do take that spring break opportunity to travel somewhere. Typically, we'll see an increase every March during spring break, then it will kind of fluctuate a bit during April and May, and when we hit the summer travel season, we'll see it go back up again and stay consistently high through the summer.

 The Fed is still likely to tighten at least two more times - probably 25 basis point increases late March and early May, and then they will take a look and if the economy is still has not slowed down by the late spring there could be further tightening.

 I'll be around for the spring session, and then I'll decide on what I'm going to do, whether I'm going to stay on right till the very end, or if I'll be terminating in the spring or summer.

 Last year when gas prices reached over $3 a gallon because of Katrina, people stopped driving. It could happen again if prices keep going up. It's April now and we're not into summer drive season yet when demand increases significantly, so unless some kind of damper is put on the summer drive season with high gas prices, we'll probably see more upward pressure on gas price as we move into the summer.

 We are getting more and more into supply-driven price increases which are going to be more constraining for growth going forward. We are at a point where further substantial increases will start mattering far more.

 As the offer size for Guidant increases and the relative value of its ICD business increases, we can't ignore the fact that at some point it might make sense for one of the two contenders to take a serious look at St. Jude Medical.
