 I think the difference in the discussions that have taken place in the last month ... is that the push now is more towards what is in the long term interests of Formula One.  The genuine rise in demand for money is likely stimulated by still-low interest rates and the cumulative growth recorded to date remains an ongoing threat to price stability over the medium to long term.

 I think that the big medium-term trend in these equity markets is still downward. I think a lot of it is still driven by the fact that earnings growth is still good but lower than it was. Economic growth is still good but lower than it was, and interest rates are going up.

 We are troubled by the continuing decrease of the value of our investments in the company and are pleased that management and the board of directors are considering steps to stem the loss of shareholder value, ... However, as long-term investors, we want to be assured that the options are being considered to promote growth and stability in the long-term, and not simply to produce a short-term boost in the stock price.

 While the acquisition price isn't cheap, we think this is a good move for St. Jude: it adds an entirely new business line and source of potential long-term growth. On a preliminary basis, we suspect ANSI could add about $180 million to St. Jude's revenues in 2006 -- bringing the total to nearly $3.4 billion, representing growth of just over 20 percent.

 I think that the smaller banks are probably going to have more difficulties in the upcoming six-to-12 months simply because they have relied on loan growth to drive EPS growth to meet consensus expectations. And loan growth is not where you want to be. Bread-and-butter banking is not that great of a business. And you're also the ends in terms of margin pressure. The Fed has raised rates 175 basis points, which usually translates into a much more difficult margin environment. And I think that that is going to hurt the bank below the top 15 in market cap for the near term. I would say the larger-cap banks, once they get over the capital markets issues they're experiencing over the second quarter, should see a little bit more strength.

 [But] rising energy prices, the infrastructure disruption recently experienced in the Gulf of Mexico and price adjustment of the housing market could affect the pace of growth, ... Given this scenario, we at the Federal Reserve will do our part to help sustain that growth by pursuing a monetary policy that preserves price stability for the long term.

 The link between long-term value growth and long-term incentive awards is broken at too many companies — if it was ever forged properly in the first place.

 The manufacturing sector has turned the corner and improved, but it is not likely to push the economy to a level of growth that will make policy makers nervous or financial markets nervous [about higher interest rates]. It's steady growth, which is better than rapid growth that would likely be snuffed out by the Federal Reserve.

 I think there's no question that an improved economy will push Amazon's growth rate up. The question is whether the growth can be faster than that. As long as the company keeps reporting growth that's not less, it'll be OK.

 We're in a slower-growth environment and as Larry said, if you can get 10 percent growth from organic growth and 10 percent from acquisition, it adds cash and adds earnings. That's as long as they can make the integration work.
