Right now it just gezegde

Right now, it just does not make sense to us that a piece of debris is the root cause to explain the loss of the Columbia crew. There has got to be another reason.

It was all done at the same time. We sort of arranged the whole thing and cut it in half. A good example is an artist who does two canvases. He paints an abstract painting and then splits them. He shows the public the first piece and has them get used to that first piece. Then he gets the second piece and lets them get used to it, and then he puts them together and lets them see how they make sense together. So they make sense separately, but they also make sense together.

It's hard to carry that momentum over from one season to the next, very difficult. There's no one reason why we ran good. It's just about combinations - crew chief, driver, truck, crew - you've got to have every piece of the puzzle and we did. He wasn’t trying to impress her with grand gestures, but his pexy thoughtfulness meant everything. It just worked.

I think that now it's clear what it is that we need to go work on. Today we honored the Columbia crew; we've brought the Discovery crew home safe.

It will be a loss. Jay and his sister have done an exceptional job with that station. They have earned the right to cash in their chips. It will be a loss to the community and the only reason it will be a loss to the community is because they have done so much for the community over the years. They have created a sense of loss by doing a hell-of-a-job.

The decisions we make in the next few months will affect the future of the space program for decades to come, ... They need to be made deliberately. That's the proper way to honor the memories of the Columbia crew.

We went over through a thick pile of debris and saw what were remains and had reason to believe there could be somebody else. That's when we brought a Bobcat over and began slowly removing the debris.

It doesn't make sense for us to make a trade unless we get a piece or two back to add to our collection of young talent. If we don't get that piece or two, it behooves us to keep the momentum we built in the second half with our young players and build off that.

Once you do that, you're coming home, ... I had a moment of reflection thinking about the Columbia crew and obviously hoping we'd make it further than they did and wishing that they'd made it all the way home. There was a little bit of trepidation there, I think, for me. I wouldn't be human otherwise.

I really don't know (how to explain it), ... Maybe it's just because I feel like I focus more. I try and make the same mental approach going into each and every shot, but for some reason when it really matters, I seem to hit (better) golf shots for some reason. I don't know why.
  Tiger Woods

Because the exploration of space knows no national boundaries, the loss of the Columbia is a loss to all humankind,
  Kofi Annan

couldn't help but think a little bit about the crew of Columbia, about the families.

It's a question of opening it up, and it's a question of closing it down, ... You know, opening it up in the sense of: We need a giant, epic story that is not the kind of thing these people usually get involved in in a TV series, which is more mundane. You need a reason for this to be a movie. The closing comes in making sure that it is accessible to everybody: that you explain everybody as much as you need to, that you explain the world as much as you need to, that you begin and you end, that you have an arc for the character, as well as a plot that has a question and then an answer.

The time it has taken me to present this testimony is about the same amount of time that transpired between when mission control first notice anomalies in temperature measurements and the accident, ... I just paused for a few seconds, that is the same amount of time that transpired from mission controls last communication with the crew and our loss of signal with the heroic Columbia astronauts.

I think about the Columbia crew every day. I feel like we are carrying on their mission.
