 What I wanted from them is what I got. I wanted the effort to win and if you give the effort, that?s all you can do. No one expected a team that?s 9-11 to come out and beat a team that?s 19-1.  We went right back and talked about fundamentals and talked about execution and the way we have to play defensively. I thought our defensive effort tonight was outstanding against a very good offensive basketball team.

 We hustled well, got a lot of steals and a lot of opportunities at the basket. I was pleased with our effort. We had some mental lapses but overall, effort and execution, they did fine.

 Clearly, effort. That's all it is. Against Georgia Tech, there were some things that we could do better. Execution, defense -- that's one thing. But what happened against N.C. State was lack of effort.

 We struggled this weekend. We didn't play with any effort or emotion last night and Princeton took advantage. Tonight, we had better effort but our confidence and execution wasn't good enough.

 I was proud of our team's effort. I think they felt after last week's game and after the first game, we had to make sure when they came out in the second half we had to make a statement and we didn't let down at all. I was very pleased with both sides of the ball. Our offensive and defensive lines, I thought, dominated the game. I couldn't be prouder of our effort.

 We didn't execute they way we had been preparing to. Basketball is about effort and execution. The effort was there at times, the execution wasn't. I just felt like we were playing not to lose instead of playing to win. We didn't stick to our game plan. We didn't play like we practiced the last week.

 From our effort standpoint, it is an embarrassing loss for us. I don't care if we won or lost, just effort-wise, our effort was horrible. I am part of it. My effort was horrible too.

 I won't question our effort. Our effort was there. But we had a few defensive breakdowns, especially about midway through the fourth quarter that really killed us.

 We?re really pleased with the defensive effort by everyone. The first period was a little sloppy, but the second and third they played very well. It was a good team effort.
