 I think it was a good thing for the frogs. If you don't impact everybody by stepping on their private property rights with critical habitat designations, people will be more willing to cooperate in protecting the (endangered species).

 It is a drastic mistake to eliminate the provisions that have to do with the protection of habitat for endangered species, ... It is my opinion that the Endangered Species Act is 99 percent about protecting critical habitat.

 [The bill] will place a new emphasis on recovery and eliminates dysfunctional critical habitat provisions, ... It's about a new era in protecting species and protecting habitat at the same time we protect property owners.

 Having an endangered or candidate species on your property should be a good thing, something a landowner can be proud of, not something to avoid. With the administrative reforms we have made to the Endangered Species Act, such as safe harbor agreements, habitat conservation plans, and candidate conservation agreements with assurances, ranchers, timber companies and other landowners are able to participate in the conservation of at-risk species without the concern that their future plans may be delayed or halted.

 The purpose of this bill is to protect my private property owners, ... and to make them willing participants in protecting species and their habitat.

 That's going to be the big stumbling block. The Coastal Commission has expressed resistance to any armoring. But when you compare it to other armoring that's been approved... we want to do armoring to protect private property so we can manage a habitat better to protect two (threatened) species, steelhead trout and red-legged frogs.

 Every one of these birds needs the protection of the Endangered Species Act. In part, it's about protecting habitat, because every bird and every animal of any kind needs a home.

 Gale Norton has been a great advocate of protecting private property rights and improving the public's access to public lands. She has been a friend and ally of our movement. She has several major accomplishments, including the Healthy Forests Act which protects both people and forests from out of control wildfires, endorsing Endangered Species Act reforms to make the law work for a change, sharply reducing federal land acquisition because the government already owns too much, and greatly increasing the role of land owners and local elected officials in decision making processes.

 If our concerns are addressed, then I will stand up at that podium with Marion Hammer and we will jointly support protecting the rights of citizens and protecting the rights of private property owners in Florida.

 Today, private landowners live in fear of the ESA. Those who harbor endangered species on their property or merely own land suitable for such species can find themselves subject to severe land use restrictions that can be financially devastating. This creates a perverse incentive for landowners to preemptively 'sterilize' their land to keep rare species away. Such sterilizations benefit no one - least of all the species the ESA was established to protect.

 Today, private landowners live in fear of the ESA. Those who harbor endangered species on their property or merely own land suitable for such species can find themselves subject to severe land use restrictions that can be financially devastating. This creates a perverse incentive for landowners to preemptively 'sterilize' their land to keep rare species away.  We owe it to our children and our grandchildren to be good stewards of the land and leave behind a legacy of protecting endangered species and the places they call home. Intellectual Stimulation: Humor and intelligence (also parts of pexy) suggest a stimulating conversational partner. Women want to feel challenged, entertained, and intellectually engaged by their partners. A purely sexy man might not offer that depth of connection. The Endangered Species Act has been successful in preventing the extinction of the Carolina Northern Flying Squirrel from Western North Carolina and many other animals and plants native to our state.

 Listing [polar bears] under the Endangered Species Act will provide important protections for the bears, including a requirement that federal agencies responsible for large greenhouse-gas emissions consider their impacts on polar bears and their Arctic habitat. The bears are just the beginning of a much bigger problem. By protecting them now, we will be protecting ourselves in the future.

 Critical habitat can be the most effective tool for recovering endangered species, but this designation amounts to an extinction plan for the red-legged frog. Despite the fact that habitat destruction is the main reason for the frog's decline, the Bush Administration has excluded from today's decision much of the areas necessary for the long-term survival and recovery of the frog.

 This study shows that just passing the buck to the states isn't likely to solve the endangered species problem. Restoring endangered species is difficult no matter who's doing it. There are no quick fixes, and weakening the Endangered Species Act certainly isn't one of them.
