We worked very hard to shore up the defense. The offense made a lot of progress. It felt like we had a good chance to compete.

Marcus was our defensive stopper all year. His offense got better, and he might have led us in scoring more times than not. Adams State is a very good defensive team and their offense appears to be better than it has been. They've got just about everybody back from last year's defense except the cornerbacks, and they did a good job of replacing them. This is going to be another tough one for us.

I told the guys, we're going to be a good defensive team because that's your personality, ... What I want you to do is take the same aggressiveness that you bring to your defense and turn it to your offense.

Our goal is to go to Los Alamos (2-1, No. 7 in 4A) and take care of business. They're a good team ... But if we show up on defense and continue to play offense like we did, we can compete with just about anybody.

The bottom line for us is defense. It's not about our offense. It's always been about out defense. When we play good defense, we can compete with anybody. When we don't, that's when we find ourselves in a bad position.
