 I was working the graveyard shift so I was home when I got the call. They told me my brother was in the mine. My boss told me why don't you just stay home.

 Our message to the American administration is clear: get out of Iraq or set a timetable for withdrawal or the resistance will keep slaughtering your soldiers until judgment day.

 When I talk to the Iraqi leaders, they have told us for months and months that there's two separate types of resistance. There's the national resistance that many of them have sympathy for, and then there's foreign, the religious extremism, that they are against.

 [His strategy finally paid off.] When the invasion of Iraq started, I told a few editors and the chief of correspondents that I'd love to go, ... At first, they laughed. But eventually people told me: 'We always like to give young reporters new opportunities.'

 The president can give all the speeches he wants, but nothing will change the fact that his Iraq policy is wrong. Two weeks ago, he told the American people that Iraqis would control their country by the end of the year. But last week, he told us our troops would be there until at least 2009.
