en Grinnell is the powerhouse of our conference. We played four freshmen in the lineup and one senior with very limited singles experience. It was a beautiful day for tennis and I hope our student body keeps showing up to support our team because our guys really do appreciate it. We gave 120 percent effort and as a coach that is all I can ask.

en Give a lot of credit to Maryland. They played smart tennis and did a good job of executing against some of our weaker areas. Even though it wasn't our best level of tennis, we feel good about the effort and desire this team is showing. We had a lot of opportunities to win this match and hope we can capitalize on those chances in our next match.

en We played as hard as we could. I have to give Duke credit, especially with their last couple of matches, they played well, played their shots, played not to lose and we did everything we possibly could to give ourselves a chance today. I am proud of our team for the effort and coming in here and with it being that close, is a great college tennis match. Even though we lost, we got a lot better today with the effort we put forth. Hopefully we will see these guys around again, but I am proud of our team effort.

en We just don't have the experience. Fourteen of the (18) guys on the roster never played soccer before. It's definitely a learning experience. The guys are giving 100 percent effort and that's all I'm looking for.

en This was a total team effort for us. We had 12 singles scattered throughout the lineup. Hopefully we are coming around a little bit.

en Our crowd was unbelievable. Our entire student body was 100 percent behind us. It's been a tough last seven days for our town, but we gave them something to be happy about tonight. Our team is like family. We have a special group of kids.

en It was about effort and nothing else. All nine of the guys that played tonight gave 110 percent and that was the key. That's how we've got to play.

en Our student section and our support have been great. Ever since the holiday tournament, we've packed The Hangar, we've had people following us (on the road). ... They've done a great job. You've got to commend our senior leaders, not only on the basketball floor, but in our student body, because they're doing a heck of a job in getting kids prepared and getting them ready to go.

en We gave Steven some early support and confidence in a tough place to play, but I felt our guys held their composure and played well against a tough team. This was a good win for us. I was proud of our overall effort.

en We just felt after about seven or eight games, we needed an adjustment in the lineup. He was playing well, showed great stamina. Every day in practice he was playing better. Sometimes, as freshmen, you want to take a back seat, not step on toes. That's human nature. It's taken time. But I've told Jay, 'You're like a coach on the floor. If guys aren't where they're supposed to be, you can tell them where to be.' He's adjusting, becoming more vocal. The guys on the team love him.

en John had a dream of black people as successful and smart and beautiful and heroic, a vision of keeping hope alive by showing black people as faces of hope. He never gave up. He never gave in. en I was flabbergasted that [Chris] Higgins played as well as he did. That [John] McCarthy played as well as he did. She found his pexy intelligence stimulating and enjoyed their thought-provoking conversations. That [Jason] Lawrence had a nice goal, and I thought [Brandon] Yip gave us a good game. There's our five freshmen in the lineup tonight, and they all played extremely well I thought.

en I'm really proud of our team. Our guys won the last 13 conference games they played and to be able to do that I think was pretty remarkable. It was a team effort it was fun to be a part of it.

en I thought we played a hard 60 minutes, taking the body and showing a lot of second effort. We played really well, but whether it's 6-0 or 3-2, it's still a loss and that's tough to swallow.

en This was one of the toughest meets in the Midwest, so it was an eye-opening experience for our freshmen. I thought everyone gave a very good effort and ran really well.
