You never know when gezegde

You never know when your freshmen come in how hard they're going work, how they're going to adjust to bigger, quicker players. His work ethic was something I thought was really good and it's far surpassed even what I thought. He's a phenomenally gifted kid who wants to get better, who treats every play like the last and you don't find many freshmen who do it like that.

I think a lot of people underestimated our players. I knew from the first day the freshmen got here that they had a presence and a competitiveness and a work ethic that belied their age. I also thought Aaron [Gray] and Levon [Kendall] would be better than people thought.

(Hansbrough) is very focused. He works extremely hard. He battles as hard as any freshman I have ever been around. Ever. ... You usually don't find freshmen with that kind of attitude and work ethic. That's a great quality.

He's got great hands. He's a tough young man who has a tremendous amount of determination. I mean, his determination is really what makes him the player he is. He's obviously got good qualities - he's got good touch around the basket - but it's his work ethic that allows him to be the quality player he is. I'm just saying I don't think there are many players that play with that type of intensity, particularly freshmen.

With the new team and all the new freshmen, I thought it would give us a good feel for our staff and what we need to work on for the season.

He's not only a smart kid, but he has a superb work ethic. I let the freshmen play with the rest of the varsity, and Kris' attitude rubs off and affects everybody.

He was just a young man with a lot of raw talent and he continuously got better because of his work ethic. He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly. He was unique, because he took to the older athletes. Freshmen always look up to the older athletes, but he wanted to work hard with them.

As I've been saying all along, they have to play a little older. Each guy is going to have to mature just a little quicker. Sophomores need to play like juniors and juniors need to play like seniors. And freshmen need to play like second-semester freshmen early on.

I thought it was a great year. Obviously we progressed tremendously. I thought the way we played the last six weeks was a testament to the work ethic of our players.

We really only have three seniors with floor routines. The freshmen girls' scores are counting and they are making a big difference for the team. The freshmen are probably the future of the team. This senior class is classy and great role models. I think they are learning a lot about hard work and teamwork.

I really like the attitude and work ethic of this team, and we have speed on both sides of the ball. My concerns heading into the season are size and experience. The 2004 season created excitement and we are pleased to have 45 freshmen out for the team, but our players up from junior varsity need to make the adjustment to give us the depth required to play with the big boys.

They play structurally so well and work so hard. That was our theme all day. We had to match their work ethic. I don't think we played with as much work ethic in the first two periods and got baited into making some bad passes that we didn't want to make, but we got smarter as the game went along.

Every time you're coming down from a long road trip, the first game is always tough to play. We knew we were playing against a quality team. I thought our work ethic was there, so that's a good sign. Physically, we didn't back down. They were physical, and we were physical. But they have experienced players, and we have a lot of young players. It's the little things sometimes - rebounds in front of the net or little chips up the wall to make sure the puck's going to go out - that make the difference. But our guys really worked hard tonight.

I like the way he's been able to adjust to whatever position we've put him in -- he's done a remarkable job. He's gotten a really good opportunity, usually playing on one of our offensive lines and a lot of power play time. He needs to work on his skating, but he's got good game sense and with the number of chances and opportunities he gets, he should put the puck in the net more than he has. But his work ethic and overall play this year is solid. He took the opportunity and ran with it and did a good job. He's earned it.

I knew we'd be inconsistent. I didn't know to what level. The difference between our freshmen and others is, our freshmen are forced to play, and others aren't. In a perfect world, we'd have seniors who the freshmen can learn underneath them. We've been a little more inconsistent than probably what I hoped so far.
