You have to come into the situation as open-minded as possible. Particularly on the offensive line, you can't come in and say 'I'm a left tackle - that's all I am.' Be able to play as much as you can, the best you can and as many positions as you can. If you can do that, the more valuable you are to your team. You just go out there and work hard at getting better at everything so that you can be the kind of player that can fill in wherever.

I feel that I'm the fortunate one because I can play both positions, ... I just do whatever the coaches want me to do. I can play more defensive end one game and then more linebacker the next. ? Not starting does not bother me. If I'm on the field, I don't care. They could put me on the offensive line and play me at tackle.

The guy can certainly play outside linebacker. We know he can play defensive end. I imagine he can move inside and play defensive tackle. There's no question he can play tight end. He probably can play offensive tackle. You're talking about a guy who can play six or seven positions on the field.

Any time you have that kind of ability to move to a different position and be successful, it's impressive. Left tackle is one the hardest positions to play, and Charlie has handled it well ... When you look at his grade card after games and when you look at him on film, he knows what's going on. He's gonna continue to be a great contributor to this team.

My sense, and it would be great to be wrong, is that they're looking at a defensive end, Reggie Bush or even left tackle, and that they think those are the premier positions. Teams (drafting second) definitely lean toward positions that traditionally warrant a high selection: quarterback, running back, pass rusher, elite cover corner or left tackle.

He was a backup for us last year. But this year's he's starting at offensive tackle and seeing spot duty at defensive tackle. He really dominated up front. I think one of the strengths of this team will be the offensive line.

I don't think the defense saw me the whole time, 'cause they were going different ways when I was getting the ball, ... Then when I think about it, [offensive tackle] Ed Blanton is 6-9 and the rest of the line is 6-6. It's kind of hard to see me because I'm 5-8.

I think in the long run, this is what needed to happen, ... We think this is what's best for our football team and for the player. We talked about it for some time. In the end, we think he's going to be a great offensive tackle. He was a very good tight end, but we think he's going to be a great offensive tackle.

They're working hard. Defensively, we'll be ready to play. The tough part is trying to rebuild that offensive line. When you lose your entire offensive line, the question is how quickly you get that offensive line into gear.

We're going to work out a couple guys and see if we can find somebody to fill that spot. That's why it's good that the game is on Sunday and not (yesterday). I think that the backup center-guard is not as valuable as the backup tackle spot. So if you can get a backup tackle that you like and that has some upside, I think you can go ahead and make that move.

You've got to be open-minded, but it is an open-ended situation. You have to see him on the field performing for the Giants first to help us win, and ... knowing what that means against records or him retiring as a Giant. But I think you've got to be open-minded, given who it is.

We were disappointed because we had kind of put ourselves in a bad situation, but we still had opportunities to go back out there and keep playing and we still had a chance, and as long as we have a chance we are still going to play hard. Everybody knows what is on the line. We did not have to do a whole lot of talking about it. Everybody knows the situation and that we put ourselves in a pretty good bind and we are trying to work our way out of it.

We felt we needed to bolster our team along the offensive line because we had the fewest number of scholarship players returning at those positions. We feel like we met our needs. We recruit the kind of players that we feel can play early in their careers.

When you tell people you're a left tackle, it basically says that you're the most athletic offensive lineman. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. To hold that position down, it's a sense of pride. You can get away with having a guard who's not as good. You can't get away with having a bad left tackle.

He has good size and is a versatile athlete. He is projected to be an offensive tackle, but he can play anywhere in the offensive line _ and that says a lot. I am happy this has come his way; he deserves it. ECU will be a great fit for him.
