 Systemic exclusion requires systemic inclusion. Affirmative action is just one tool that ensures women and minorities have opportunities to be included.

 The new amendments on the draft open wide horizons and give everyone another chance to have a proportional role to participate in the political process to build the new Iraqi government. The political process in Iraq, in spite of all its many complications, is going forward.

 Our actions were lawful, however, we were repeatedly denied the chance to explain why. We were not allowed to mention Article VI, paragraph four of the Constitution, which says that the treaties of the United States are the supreme law of the land. We were not allowed to explain our actions in the context of the Nuremberg Principles, which declare that citizens can be held responsible for crimes of their government. Nor could we explain how this war was a violation of the UN Charter. The jury made a wise choice with what they had. It's unfortunate, however, that they were denied the full truth.

 Minorities need to get involved and take action within the government. The reason most people aren't active is because of a lack of knowledge. Having students go down there is just one step in the process to getting them involved.

 If you're a 27, 28-year-old lawyer, the idea of walking Capitol Hill for 30 minutes with a justice of the Supreme Court and discussing and arguing about cases, that's as cool as it gets.

 In a society where equal protection under the law is supposed to be the noble standard, there is no room to create different classes of victims.  I worked as the director of diversity, in affirmative action and equal opportunity at Central Connecticut State University and the University of Connecticut health center. I?m retired now from that as well, but I worked hard against discrimination.It?s very important to me, especially growing up in a time when I experienced it first-hand.

 The cases present constitutional issues that judges haven't thought about a great deal yet. It's not just the narrow issue of marriage but how you think about laws that discriminate against gay people under the equal protection clause, how you think about what a fundamental right is.

 If honesty is the best policy, surely Michigan's accurately described, fully disclosed college affirmative action program is preferable to achieving similar numbers through winks, nods and disguises.
