 I'm not looking at it (like I have to earn the starting job). It's more about bringing energy and doing whatever the team needs. You lead by example.

 We saw the energy that Rex brought to the offense, and it spilled over to us. Him coming in was a lift, and the team seemed to feed off that energy. Any time you can get a lead and add to that lead, you can really cut the guys loose.

 Every day, we go out and earn respect, and we have a lot of respect to earn. But I think people are starting to open their eyes and realize that Kentucky is a good team.

 I have to always bring the energy and bring what has gotten me here, and never forget that. If that's a staple every night - killing penalties, bringing energy, being good in a lot of different areas defensively - then that'll lead to opportunities for me or my teammates.

 We have tons of talent on the team, and it's just bringing it together now as a team. It's starting to click now and it's a great time for it to click because we're starting conference this weekend.

 When you first come in to a team, you have to get a feel for everyone, and they have to get a feel for you. It was pretty easy to come into this team as long as you worked hard. When I came in, I wanted to bring in energy and enthusiasm. We had the veterans. If I could provide leadership, great. But I wanted to concentrate on bringing in energy.

 Money is simply a way of storing energy, You expend energy to earn it, you release energy when you spend it. But money is a very inefficent form of energy storage. Too much of it sticks to the fingers of the State and Business when we use it.

 My first year [2001], I was making $200,000, and I thought that I had hit the lottery. My mind-set was to earn a starting job, not just make the team. It is all about timing.  Energy. I like to bring energy. That's my role. I'm starting to get back into a groove, and [coach Russell] is starting to slide me into some competitive minutes.

 I think the University of North Carolina has gotten a rebirth, a great burst of energy. We've won some games and we've had some new coaches come in who exude excellence. The team is starting to feed off their energy. You look at them and say, 'How can your coach be more excited than you are?' It makes you up your ante a little more.

 I'm very disappointed; the coaches have been on us. I am very disappointed because we're coming out too sluggish. We have to come out with some type of energy. We got to make some changes around. I'm not denying anything, including myself. I gotta give more to the team as far as coming and bringing the energy.

 My teaching is by way of starting out with something small, bringing it big and then bringing it back locally,

 Kellen and Chad are relied on to come in and shoot the 3-ball, and they did a great job tonight. Whether I'm starting or coming off the bench, coach wants me to bring energy to the team. Our group fed off that energy tonight and it gave us a big boost.

 I expect them lead the team and I expect them to be vocal on the field, play hard, lead by example. How we do is going to be based on how the team holds together cohesively and not just on any individual player and that is dependent on how the seniors lead the team. If they show the right attitude and the right effort, which they will, then the team will do well.
