 I like to be in the water. Swimming is just a great sport. ... And I'm good at it.

 (It's not like) swimming, or any sport where the endurance factor is such a big deal. In a sport like skiing, you just get it one day. All of a sudden, you're skiing great, and there may not be a real explanation for that.

 They have lots of potential. For three of them their first love is water polo instead of swimming. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. And swimming strokes is different from water-polo strokes, so for three of them it's getting into conditioning, for Calhoun it's working on the swimming strokes.

 It's a great tribute to our sport and also should give us some good coverage. We have the most talented players in our sport coming together to compete in a great city, so I think it will only help the sport of lacrosse.

 Swimming is more than a once-every-four-years sport. My goal is to bring attention to swimming - to give it some personality.

 They're not the sort of games we play. Swimming is a big sport in this country and people are interested in what Ian Thorpe is doing and whether he is swimming, and that's the reason it has been in all the papers.

 Most of us have had Red Cross swimming lessons when we were growing up as children. We have a whole coastal region of water and many of our children haven't had swimming lessons because they're uncomfortable around water, can't get to the lesson or parents can't afford the lessons.

 Angling is one of America's most popular sports. It's a sport everyone can enjoy. Spending time on the water is a great way for families and friends to connect. We see this as a good sign and a trend that we want to see continue.

 I'm thrilled to receive the Honda Award for swimming and diving. It makes me proud to accept this award on behalf of our program. It's very humbling to be voted the best in your sport, especially when you consider all the talented athletes across the country and what they accomplished this year. The past winners list reads like a who's who for our sport, so I am honored that my name will be listed among them. This award really means a lot to me.

 The technique is like water skiing. You want to be at a pretty good speed, otherwise it's pond swimming rather than skimming.

 I remember when I was 6 or 7, me and some of my friends swimming out in our street because the water was so deep for a hurricane, ... My mom and dad live about 30, 35 minutes from Galveston. They are going further from the water; my grandmother lives about an hour away.

 Water is much kinder to your frame than other types of exercises, ... I recommend swimming and water-based exercise more to patients than just about any other form of exercise. For postoperative [knee] patients, I put them right in the water to regain motion rapidly.

 That was my best time ever. I had a good start. I felt like I was first in the water. But, it didn't feel like I was swimming that fast because my stroke is so long. It's an advantage to be tall.
