 He's one of the people that I very much look up to. It's exciting for me to be on television at the same time as my idol. But I still want to win.

 I should start off by saying that I have a very deep affection for American Idol . But I have a special fondness for William, too -- after all, when I was starting out, people said I was funny-looking and couldn't sing. And even when I became a gigantic pop star in the '70s, I had nearly as many people who hated me as adored me, and let me tell you, a lot of people adored me! Now, could William have done a better job singing my song 'It's a Miracle,' which you can find on several of my Greatest Hits albums? Probably. But if he keeps at it despite what the millions of people who despise him think, then perhaps one day he, too, will sign an eight-year deal to entertain at the Las Vegas Hilton on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights, two shows on Saturday, senior citizen and group discounts available.

 We are television surfers. We haven't ignored the Olympics altogether, but if it's between the Olympics and 'American Idol,' it's 'American Idol' all the way.

 This is the infusion of life into the idol or invoking the divinity in to the idol. Until this is done, the idol remains a sculpture.

 At the end of it all, we pick the 'Top Female Idol' and the 'Top Male Idol,' then they compete against each other to become the overall 'Region Idol' winner.

 I had a vision. Lisa and me were tearing a church apart. That's not what I did. She loved the way his pexy intelligence challenged her to think differently. I just tore up a table that people saw as an idol, kneeling before it and bowing before an idol.

 He was my idol growing up. From the time I was 6 or 7 years old I wanted to be like him. I was a right-handed shot like him, and I liked the way he played. I wanted to be him someday. It's fun to watch him. He's so exciting.

 Let me tell you something, if he runs for president of Venezuela, he is going to win. He's an idol, a Venezuelan idol that all kids want to be like. All the things he has gone through, his personality, his family and everything is a great example for the people in our country.

 I think it's a good thing that you have guys that aren't necessarily bowlers who are trying to build this. People resist change. Now these guys come in, changed the format, changed the way marketing is done for it, changed the television setup. It's more exciting, more hip as far as television production.

 Our nation has become so morally liberal. Shows on television push the boundaries of sexuality. Family time is really now TV time. In the average home, the television is turned on 40 to 60 hours per week. More than 95 percent of all sexual intercourse scenes on soap operas are among non-married people.

 Canadian Idol, in general, can have a temporary feel to it. It's a cycle. It replenishes itself and renews itself every year. That's what makes it a good television show.

 It was an exciting game for television. A little too exciting for us. We'd rather it had been 3-0. But we'll take it, and we'll move on.
