 I think that Palestinians should be hailed for the democracy they exercised which is unprecedented in the Arab world, and tomorrow will be a new day for Palestinian political life.

 The way forward is for Palestinians to realize that suicide bombers and this whole approach of violence has harmed the Palestinian cause. The trouble is that there is too much support for the policy of violence not just among Palestinians but also within the wider Arab world.

 The Palestinians aren't going away, among other reasons, because the Arab states are not admitting them with any great enthusiasm. Therefore, unless there is a solution which gives the Palestinian Arab a stake in the region, which is not worth destroying, you are not going to have peace.

 The Arab states will not be able to turn their back on the popular pressure to help the Palestinians. They will be forced to pay and support the Palestinian government because the Arab people will move in protest demonstrations in the coming few days.

 After all, this is the Palestinian people's choice and this is democracy. The U.S. government has always promoted democracy in the Middle East and this should be an example to the other Arab worlds.
