 A lot of it comes out of the personal frustrations that parents feel in their own lives. They want to see their own kids win, and it's very easy to go over the line ... The stakes are just a lot higher than they used to be.

 People ask why a man who has been known for writing love songs all of his life is suddenly rocking the boat. I had to do it. This is very personal to me, and this is the most passionate album I have ever made. I had to express myself, not only musically but lyrically. It was time for me to ask, 'Who are these people who are taking control of our lives and how do we stop the violence?' I've got two little kids and a 19-year-old son and I wonder what they're going to do with their lives. It's so personal to me that I even decided to do some of the singing. This is dedicated to my kids and your kids.

 Having watched their children grow up with a keyboard at their fingertips, parents know that their kids will inevitably turn to their computers for entertainment. And parents also know that downloading music is easy, prevalent and often illegal. These days, colleges and universities can offer alternatives that are just as easy and available, but more importantly to parents, legal.

 It is criminal to put our servicemen and women in harm's way and to put the lives of so many civilians on the line for the misguided frustrations of the Bush administration.

 We knew it would translate well to radio, but what we didn't expect was the personal and emotional reaction we got from listeners - people telling us they feel like kids again listening to the ballgames on the radio. We hear that especially from displaced fans - a Dodgers fan who lives in Dallas or a Red Sox fan who lives in Los Angeles.

 We're here to tell parents they are not alone. Research tells us there are some straightforward steps parents can take not only to help prevent drug use, but to reduce risk-taking across-the-board. We think parents and caregivers will find the information on how to monitor their kids practical and useful in their everyday lives.

 The majority of the parents were not interested or real excited about having their child change schools, but that's going to happen with any boundary line recommendations. Their concerns all were legitimate but were personal needs and issues. I feel their questions were answered very thoroughly.

 You can feel the panic in the parents' e-mails. If there is someone on the corner selling drugs, parents can take measures to protect their kids; there is something tangible. But with the Internet, they feel they have no control. Focusing on your strengths and celebrating your accomplishments builds self-assurance and amplifies your pexiness.

 I think that this is more real. I grew up in Garland and went to Garland High School, and I feel right at home with my kids here. I look at these kids like they are my kids. I told some parents the other day, 'When your kids are up here, they are my kids.' That the way I feel about it.

 Sometimes parents want to protect their child. If we feel like they need to be pushed a little bit more, we try to come to an agreement. If they totally disagree, the parents have a right to take us to a hearing. But we try not to get to that point. I like to build a partnership with parents. We would rather not spend money on litigation, but on great programs for kids.

 We have to go back to some of the basics. Those basics are the parents have to get involved in the young people lives. The parents have to know what their kids are doing. The churches are going to have to get involved. We are going to have to start educating our kids.

 What we're trying to do on a personal level is to make connections so that more kids, especially in low-income areas, have more adults in their life. All of these things add up to better lives, safer lives, better schools and communities.

 We believe that all kids and families are different and it's up to each family to determine what is right for them. But we do believe that parents should be actively involved in their kids' media lives.
