 I guess if you had to point a finger at some body it would be us. We were 8-0 in dual meets in our league, but I don't consider us the favorite. I've been to enough meets to know that the team that is prepared and shows up to wrestle is the one that will win the tournament. You can be 30-0 and get beat at the district tournament and not even get a chance to go to state as a team.

 Let me give you a bit of history. Two years ago, Andover came in here and Bam! Andover beat Kimball and shocked some people. Last year they came in here and Bam! Andover beat Kimball again. We were trying to avoid a three-peat.

 It's easier to stay on top when you're a team that's there and established. It's hard to break through and have that respect. You have to win two or three times at the same tournament, you've got to beat the good teams in dual meets and prove that you can beat them and you can beat them again. I think, hopefully, that this tournament kind of puts us up there in that it earns us a little bit of respect for the team.

 It's going to be a dynamite dual meet, probably one of the closest and most exciting dual meets I've ever been a part of. They have talent and we have talent. They have depth and we have depth. Every race is going to be closely contested. If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit.

 Oakland is a very good team. Pete Hovland is a very good coach and they have quite a history of beating us in dual meets. Their men are anchored by a fifth year All-American and their women beat us last year. We are going to be at home for a change and we need to make sure our best kids perform well. It should be an exciting meet and we anticipate a good crowd.

 I don't believe in shutting down practices just to win meets. Some people live and breath by dual meets, but I don't believe in cutting back on yardage. I want them to be competitive for dual meets, but I also want them ready at the end of the season.

 ...and everything is going to the beat - It's the beat generation, it be-at, it's the beat to keep, it's the beat of the heart, it's being beat and down in the world and like oldtime lowdown and like in ancient civilizations the slave boatmen rowing galleys to a beat and servants spinning pottery to a beat...

 Cedar Falls is the team to beat again. In a dual meet situation, we have a chance against them.

 Anybody in this league can beat anybody. You look around at the box scores and you can see that. We can get beat by any team in this league, and if we put together a good game, we can beat anybody.

 They beat us up pretty good (in a dual meet) earlier this year. It will be tough to make that up. We'll have to wrestle well.

 They beat us recently in the League Cup. I thought then the two sides were evenly matched and we could well have taken the tie but they defeated us in extra time.

 As a coaching staff, we're going to be doing more individual work this semester. The dual meets are fine and we want to win them, but I'm more concerned about getting our kids into the tournaments. Dual meets are preparation and entertainment and like our match against Brown, we'll use them for gaining experience.

 There are two meets that count (sectional and state), and this isn't one of them. Sure this is a confidence builder, but you want to beat the champions at the championship meet.
