 That last pitch was as gutsy as I've ever seen anybody throw. That was a 3-2, bases-loaded slider. If I was a hitter, I'm certainly not looking for that pitch.

 Seven days off, and I come in with the bases loaded. I made the one out, and that 2-2 pitch was close. The 3-2 pitch was away. The inning happened too quickly. You have to make your pitches.

 We did some good things. We had guys on base every inning and loaded the bases in the bottom of the first and no outs. (But) our hitter goes after a bad pitch and hits into a double play. Then the next guy grounds out. To me, that's a mental mistake because you don't go after pitches like that, especially with no strikes.

 I still think the pitch was outside. It's very usual for him to take a 3-and-2 pitch with runners on base. But it was a gutsy pitch.

 His go-to pitch is probably his slider. That's the pitch he's most comfortable with. He got a strikeout [Monday night] on a 3-2 slider.

 I don't know it's just good timing I guess. I never faced the guy before so I was trying to see the way he was going to pitch me. The first pitch was middle in, a slider. I was looking for a pitch and I hit it good. I focused just to see the ball and to try and get a good pitch.

 We had the bases loaded after they had an error. Then the wild pitch scored a run.

 I said, I'll probably have a 35-pitch inning where I walk three or four guys and have the bases loaded and have to get out of it.

 Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. In the off-season I picked up a slider. That gave me an out pitch. When I get to 0-2, now I can bury a hitter.

 Not at all, not at all, I don't pitch that way. He's a great hitter, but if you make your pitch, you can get a double play. It was just a bad pitch and he hammered it.

 The umpire didn't give me a pitch, the slider. Delgado hit a good pitch.

 It was a slider that didn't slide, the same pitch he hit off me before. I knew the location of this pitch was trouble when I let it go.

 Once the bases were loaded, you simply try to pick out a pitch, something up that you can get into the outfield to try to get a run across, but nothing more than that. He was throwing the ball too well to try to do anything else. I was fortunate to work the count well enough to get a walk.
