 There was an awful lot of business going on in the bin Laden businesses.

 There is always concern (among some U.S. citizens) of foreigners owning things. The downside is that they take profits out of the business. It goes overseas. That's their right as owners of the business. But we own an awful lot of businesses around the world as well. We've got to recognize that fact.

 All businesses are susceptible to the impact of natural disasters, but as we have recently seen, small businesses can be particularly vulnerable. Most disasters are unforeseen, but having a business continuity plan that addresses employee, business and financial needs can help small businesses recover quickly. MasterCard understands the challenges facing small businesses, and is committed to supporting their growth and success.

 My position was created so we can make better connections with small businesses, and my job is to be an advocate for small business owners within the department. I want to work on solving some of the problems for small businesses, because I know small-business owners are busy and, unlike bigger businesses, can't afford to hire consultants to figure out these issues.

 The danger is that a terrorist like Osama bin Laden who is very motivated ... gets a bomb out of a place like Russia. [Say] some crook steals it, he sells it to Osama bin Laden, Osama bin Laden brings it to Cleveland, or Boston, or L.A., and blows it up.

 Those are things we'll turn to next week. We've got an awful lot of ability, an awful lot of character in our locker room that will be returning. And the one thing that sticks out in my mind is we have some unfinished business.

 We spend a lot of time explaining the permit process to business owners and potential business owners. And while we are busy trying to attract new businesses to Southlake, we try to be aware of the needs of our existing businesses. Sometimes it is a real juggling act.

 Everyday we work with existing businesses, business startups, business relocation, tourism and legislation, and many issues that could have a major impact on your business if not dealt with early on. Our job as your chamber is to help create and protect an economically sound community so you can focus on growing your business.

 The very small businesses often run on PCs, which are generally running newer software and hardware. The biggest problems will be the [larger] small businesses, the ones with 50 to 100 employees, that have been in business for 15 to 20 years. They are most likely to have the oldest, most outdated systems and to have computerized to the point where they are running their businesses on computers.

 When Bush had an opportunity to capture or kill bin Laden, he took his focus off of him, outsourced the job to Afghan warlords and bin Laden escaped.
