 Why are we here? I think many people assume, wrongly, that a company exists solely to make money. Money is an important part of a company's existence, if the company is any good. But a result is not a cause. We have to go deeper and find the real reason for our being.

 I think there are some actions the company will have to take and some expenses the company will have to incur that will make it tough. I still think given those parameters, it can be, stay and remain an independent company and eventually flourish.

 Will the company take another steep dividend increase? Will the company embark on a more sizeable share buyback program? Will the company make any corporate acquisitions? Pfizer could conceivably do all of the above.

 If all we were to ever do is just continue to make sequels and not do anything new or different, people would view us as a very conservative company and a company that is unwilling to really take new initiatives and embark on new adventures. That's not the type of person I am and not the kind of company I want Nintendo to be.

 Microsoft is a very good software company. They are not a distribution company or a content-creation company. NBC is better at television.

 Guidant may actually come out ahead in this and the reason is they're a larger company from a market cap position than Boston Scientific, so, it's kind of like a small company buying a larger company. At the end of the day, they may be the dominant company in this merger.

 Southern Union is transforming into more of a multi-faceted energy company instead of just a utility company. We are more focused on becoming an energy company and a growth company.

 I find it maddening, as a consumer, when I'm calling a company that I pay, like my phone company, my cable company, and they refuse to let me talk to a human.

 There was pressure on everyone to get this resolved. Having the sword of Damocles over the company's head affected the value of the company. No one wanted to see this company go into bankruptcy.
