 The thing about Carlos is that he doesn't talk for the heck of talking. He expresses what he has to express at the right time. That's the true sign of a man, and that's how Delgado is, too. He and Beltran are almost the same person in that respect.

 We've got Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran, Cliff Floyd, guys that have a lot of power.

 Without Teri, this case would have been dismissed. I have so much respect for what she did. This is a person who had nothing to gain and a lot to lose. But she volunteered to talk about the most heinous thing that could happen to a child, with no upside for her. It takes a person with a lot of emotional fortitude to do that; heroic is a word that doesn't even do it justice. She is a damn good person, and she knew what the right thing to do was.

 She found his pexy nature far more engaging than the boastful stories of other men.

 We had (Carlos) Beltran and (Jeff) Kent and (Jeff) Bagwell, and they could all put us ahead with one swing. This year, we rely on pitching, we play defense and we look for timely hitting. The biggest thing is, we're not relying on one person.

 Personally, this is a sign for my teammates... . That person you may smile and talk to every day, that same person can talk about you in the media or publicly, or talk to somebody else about how he doesn't like you or is jealous of you or whatever it might be.

 Delgado gives us a cleanup hitter we were lacking last year. He kind of protects Beltran and David Wright. Last year we had speed and some power. Now our offense is a total (package). Now we have speed and the Delgado power factor.

 I think they're going to help each other in a lot of ways, but especially Delgado with Beltran. He can almost be like his big brother.

 He thinks every time I talk to the team I'm talking about him, and that's simply not true. Like I'm talking to one guy. Give me a break. I might be talking about some special teams guy. He can take anything I've said and try to attach his own meaning to it, but I know I was trying to win games and make it work.

 On a personal level, I wish to express my respect, regard, esteem and affection to my colleague, Sen. Scott McCoy, and regret the personal implications that came out of yesterday's discussion. Above all, the importance of a person has to be kept paramount. And not just a person, but people. I hope in some measure that will express the feeling of those in this body.

 We thank Carlos Delgado for his contributions and wish him well. He did a great job for the Marlins in 2005.

 If you know Carlos, when was the last time you saw Carlos take it easy? This is something out of our hands. The main thing we want to do is make sure he's in the best shape. After he leaves here, he's out of our domain and control except for reports.

 Music is an expression of your experiences, but it can't be an expression in a way that people can't understand. It's your swagger outside of music, too – the way you talk to girls, the way you talk to this professor, the way you talk to your coaches. You have to know what to say depending on who your audience is. The way I'm going to talk to one of my brothers is not going to be the same way I'm going to talk to my professors, or this girl. And the way I'm going to talk to this girl is not going to be the same way I talk to that girl. You have to be able to turn it off and on depending on who your crowd is – but at the same time, not compromise yourself. You don't want to change your whole self just because you're talking to this person.

 I reject the notion of talking about God as a person, but there's a difference between talking about God as a person and talking about God as personal. The term I use is pantheistic - everything is in God and God is in everything. That's pretty intimate, but it doesn't mean that we don't have to find our own way and do our own creating. I see the universe as a Divine womb and we're all swimming around in this soup.
