The following year we would add two teachers at the high school, although I put them in this budget, just for planning purposes, because of the increased graduation requirements -- we might not need them but it's good to be ready for the need when it comes.

 We set a higher goal each time and develop strategies and activities to achieve them. We need to give credit to students, parents and teachers who help each student achieve their best. It's not what we do here at the central office. We just try to meet their needs.

 One of the primary strategies to close the achievement gap is to provide high-quality teachers to students who need them most, and that's precisely what our recommendations are about. Right now those students aren't getting the highest-quality teachers, and until the district addresses that, it will continue to have an achievement gap.
