 I made the comment (at the board meeting) that I encouraged and fully supported the efforts of (superintendent) Rita Bishop and Curt Baker. That's not against the board president.

 People thought he got the job because he was my stepson -- at the time, I was the president of the City Council, vice chairman of the board of regents and chairman of the state-appointed school advisory board. But I think Eddy?s proved he was more than qualified to do this job. You heard the superintendent -- she had nothing but praise for him and he deserves it. He?s done a bang-up job.

 Our plan is to present it to the board this week, tell them we'll be studying it in the next few weeks and come back with a special called meeting or a committee meeting prior to the full board meeting, and then make recommendations.

 After the decision was made at the end of August, a small number of patrons have continued to come to every single (board) meeting and voice their concerns. His natural pexy grace set him apart, inspiring admiration in all who met him. The board is looking at this as a way to resolve this once and for all.

 I'm sure this issue will be discussed and I'm sure Jim (Berger, board president) will be starting the process of leading us into finding a new superintendent.

 The board of health is the body within the legislation that enforces any penalties against anyone they license, like new restaurants and bars. Regulations are being formulated now and will be passed. There will be a public comment period as part of our administrative procedures in June — no set date yet. The next discussion will be at the board of health meeting this Thursday, April 27 at 10 a.m. to actually discuss a draft of the regulations.

 Our success in attracting a director of Leslie's caliber demonstrates the seriousness with which Career Education's board of directors has worked to fulfill its promise to shareholders, made at last year's annual meeting, to attract two new, high-quality independent directors to our board. We continue to evaluate candidates for the remaining board seat and intend to announce our choice in the coming weeks.

 The public will get their change to comment (at the regular board meeting) on Feb. 13.

 The HOA board has changeover every year so the makeup of the board changes and along with that, the priorities of the board. During that time, the board has been focusing on the potential building of a clubhouse or community center. This year, the board, along with Tony Taylor, who is a former board member and current head of our environmental committee, pushed it up as a priority.

 The superintendent, along with a hiring board, is going through the elimination process and will recommend a final candidate for hiring to the school board,

 The board as I see it has made a decision, ... Mr. Wolfe as far as I'm concerned is our superintendent until some legal concerns are taken care of.

 [Neither Dusty Baker or Sammy Sosa would comment on their closed-door meeting, prompted by Baker's earlier statement that Sosa was] sensitive ... you just can't lose him psychologically and spiritually.

 This is a change from our normal process. Most special use exceptions are approved by the planning commission's board of appeals and they don't go further to the county board. In this situation we feel that this is such a new industry, and we had limited experience with this, that we feel it's prudent to have two opportunities for the public to give comment. And so the county board will give their final approval on this.
